Good book.
We homeschool and rocks was a topic my 6 year old picked for science. This is simple- to the point- and throws a lot of the information at you- something we cover a little now and then when my boys are older cover again. Colorful to help with understanding and thin and easy to store.

Disappointing
Not clear enough, eg, picture of rocks changing types with arrows, but no labeling of rock types. Another double page picture of various formations is labeled and perhaps for a visual learner would be adequate, but being more verbal, I still wouldn't know (without googling) what makes a delta a delta.

Wonderful Intro to Earth, introduces basic concepts and difficult vocabulary easily
With a 5 year old that is excited about the human body and excelling beyond any age-appropriate book or video I could find, I was running out of ideas that would't either leave her frustrated with material that's over her head or putting a "pause" on her education in this topic. But she LOVES science and biology... in comes an educator friend of mine's recommendation of April Terrazas's science series. This literally was the next step for us and I'm buying every book she has published thus far. This book is excellent for a young child to understand the basic, yet complicated, concepts in science in an easy and simple way. I never thought I would find anything like this. It introduces the basic concepts and basic vocabulary that allows my 5 year old to build on each time we read.In the GEOLOGY book, is AMAZING for a young child, and a perfect introduction for a 5- 8 year old (this topic is usually covered in 4th - 6th grade). Even my 3 year old can follow along, though after a few pages she's distracted, as expected. This book covers what a geologist is (the intro to vocabulary is awesome for young kids even!), the earth's compositon, various landforms, etc. It's all very colorful and introduces complicated topics with simple concepts and vocabulary. Through of every one of her books there is a Q&A or review.

A Fun Read
I got this book directly from the author's website for my want to be paleontologist daughter to learn about Geology and she loves it. The illustrations are great, as they always are from this author. There is once again 'quizzes' to check what you learned from the reading. This book also covers part of the cycle of precipitation. It is very well laid out and all the pictures are labeled clearly so you can easily follow the cycle, such as being in a circle. Anyone new to Geology or who just likes learning something new will enjoy this book!

Geology Rocks!
With a 3 year old who is eager to learn I got this book and although I haven't introduced it yet I can say that the illustrations and and color coded vocabulary will definitely help teach geology concepts. I love that there are questions throughout to test your knowledge. This book may be a little ahead of where my daughter is now but I think it is great that she will be able to utilize this resource for many years to come! I definitely recommend any of April Chloe Terrazas books if you have an eager learner!
