(I hate doing the same work twice)
I bought this for 'dipping water' on a camping trip. I never got to use it for that, as we had an older 10 gallon Coleman with a water spout that still works after 20 years. (I thought we might need to plug the spigot and use this ... but as it turns out, the old Coleman worked anyway).I wanted a ladle that would fill up your cup with one dip, and then you can put the cover back on and walk away. (I hate doing the same work twice). This ladle will do just that. This Ladle is pretty sturdy, although, as noted in some other reviews, it could use a bit more strengthening up in the handle. I haven't seen any other ladle, though that would fill that bill either. So my grandson was over visiting the other day and in his explorations through grandma's and grandpa's stuff, came across this ladle, and brought it over and said, "Look Grandpa! I found the Big Dipper!" ... :o) ... (True Story) That's what it is ... a big dipper! That it is, son ... that it is ...

Huge ladle great for a full bow in one scoop
I ordered this ladle along with the ChefLand set of 4 ladles, not sure what size I really needed and wanted my bases covered. When they arrived, I was truly surprised at the pure size of the ladle. It was heavy metal and the handle seemed very well attached and sturdy at first inspection. We used the ladle for the first time today for chili that was in a large stock pot. It performed excellently and stuck out about six inches from the top of the pot so we were sure we weren't going to lose it on the chili. The ladle was very sturdy, and we only needed to fill it about half way to fill a disposable bowl.Overall this is an excellent product and very sturdy. The size definitely took me by surprise.

Perfect size for what I wanted
This ladle is the perfect size for what I was looking to do.I use big stock pots for cooking; 12 quart and 16 quart. Most of the standard utensils in my kitchen just aren't long enough to get down into them and scoop up ingredients for serving, and they take several dips to fill a bowl. Also, the standard vinyl-ware these days isn't strong enough to stir and mix in big pots like that, at least from my point of view they're not. This takes one dip and fills the bowl perfectly with one scoop, and I can stir and mix to my heart's content with it, and it won't bend or give a. It's large, strong, easy to clean and easy to store from my pot rack with the end of it's handle bent like it is.It's exactly what I was looking for.

Not Pretty, But Enormous
I think I went a bit overboard with this. I was frustrated about not having any big spoons in my kitchen, so I decided to order a nice big ladle to spare me soup troubles. I no longer have the problem of a million little scoops of the wooden spoon, but I'm not particularly happy with this. It barely fits inside a 3-quart saucepan, and fills a generous soup bowl to the brim in one go, which is more than I need. Unless you always cook out of a huge stockpot and have ten or more mouths to feed, you probably should get a smaller ladle. The construction is fine, but it's not pretty. The handle part is welded to the outside of the scoop, and the edges are a bit rough.

Nice Ladle
It's big... it's tall. BUT one scoop and a bowl if filled .. most likely two and the jar is filled. While it might seem over kill, trust me, it's nicer than having to scoop and scoop and scoop..etc. Because of it's composition I think (with a little professional help, bend the top to match the height of my large stock pot. (I can't believe how much I've used it since I bought it ...) Anyway - it does it's job.

Huge, handy, a bit unwieldy
Ginormic. Huge. Perfect for ladle capacity. My problem is with the handle, which is way too long for a home kitchen. Of o were handy I would cut it shorter and bend. Otherwise, great for those of us who hate the smaller ladles and are looking for convenience.

Really Big Ladle
I needed a large capacity, steel ladle, for poaching eggs (don't laugh - it's a great process - but it requires a good steel ladle), and for preparing large quantities of some other foods (e.g. four trays of lasagna from one pot of sauce). The steel strap handle is welded to the steel bowl and there's evidence that the manufacturer ground down the weld marks, so it's not a thing of beauty - but it serves its purpose
