Perfect! In very good condition. Took a while to get here, but seller informed me which courier was used, so I knew it would take ages. Patience paid off and I'm now the happy owner of McCallum on dvd

Don't mention the bum! But can't ignore it--Hilarious
Super series which stands the test of time due to the lovely John Hannah and his eccentric team with good acting from the whole cast. The late Gerard Murphy had a long disinguished career and Zara Turner is a ray of light. I find it much more entertaining than the dour Silent Witness or the forced quirkiness of Bones both of which irritate me enormously now, and while there are only 9 episodes, they are like full length features. It would be great if John Hannah could revisit this character at a later stage in the story development as a more grumpy and mature McCallum based in Edinburg or Glasgow. Definitely worth a watch as it is forensic / crime television at its best with a good balance between the backstories of the main characters, the central crime and JH's bum!

Pleasantly surprised
So used to seeing John Hannah acting the buffoon (The Mummy etc.,) it was refreshing to see him as a grown-up actor - and really good. We have now started finding other series he's been in and we are have not been disappointed. Can't wait to find more. Would recommend.

Sehr gute Serie

McCallum
I love mysteries from across the pond be they British, Irish or Scottish. This series is about a young, Scottish member of the police force who is a forensic pathologist and who performs autopies. When he finds suspicious causes of death you can be sure a mystery is afoot. I was worried that I would not be able to understand the thick accents, however, during the first episode I became aware that I was following along quite well. I believe you just become accustomed to the language & it becomes easier to understand. There are no subtitles & I wish there were, but, it does not spoil the program at all. It has been called "gritty" & it is. An autopsy is not a pleasant thing to watch & some of the villians are really repulsive. But, it is exciting & the main character is wonderful. He isn't perfect, but, he is finding his way. It is a very good series with good acting, interesting settings & good mysteries.

Attention!

Spectacular Stories Perfectly Cast
The most refreshing aspect of this series is the unique story lines. Every one is unusual and demands everything of the pathologists. John Hannah is perfectly cast a McCallum and the supporting casting is equally perfect (or maybe it's their performances that are perfect). Something else particularly noteworthy is that these characters are all presented as real people and parts of each of their lives is expanded on and intertwined with their 'work' stories. It presents a much more human picture and makes the storytelling all the more compelling. They all have strengths and flaws, splashed across the screen for the audience to relate to. It makes for very satisfying viewing.(Seeing Hannah on his black motorbike regularly is pretty easy on the eyes too).As mentioned in another review, the last disc stinks. Nathaniel Parker is a pathetic attempt to replace John Hannah. His stiff, unsympathetic performance sucked the life right out of the series - no wonder it died! Such a shame too! I would gladly have watched another 9 episodes of Hannah and the original cast. This series is TOTALLY worth purchasing!
