A must read if you like CB
This was the only book I could find on the life of Clifford Brown. It had some really great pictures in it that you cant find online, my favorite being him in his marching uniform. I agree with the other reviewers in that the book should have been edited one more time just to refine its flow. Overall, it's a great resource if you want to learn about Clifford Brown.

Good source for insight into a major musician of the last 50 years ... Clifford lives on!
Some reviews were quite negative but I bought anyway to find out more about my favourite trumpet player. A crying shame his career was cut short at such a young age. I liked the book a lot due to the stories of his development and commitment to his craft. I didn't know him as a piano player or anything about his life and growth into being a super star musician. Now I do ... I should say the negative reviews were mostly correct in pointing out some better editing might have made a more readable book. However the book - as is - provide me a lot of enjoyable reading.

Beloved Clifford
Going back to the early sixties when I first heard Mr. Brown in his live rcordings at Blue Note, I was totally mistifiedas to why I hadn't heard of this genious before. Nevertheless I was imidiately taken by his beautiful execution & ideas. When I found out a book had been written of his life I searched & searched for this book. I was told it was out of print & later found out that the university library here had a copy. And then I found it on the internet & ordered it. Like a little boy I received it with excitement. This was well worth reading & very informative. I enjoyed reading about my genious & have lamented to this day his passing in a tragdic car accident at such a young age, barely starting to live. All jazz lovers need, yes, need to read this fine book.

Fascinating insight of a mostly unknown jazz artist who died all too young.
Loved reading how the jazz artist developed from a great family and beginnings to his master of jazz notwithstanding the prejudices that attended African-Americans when he was young.

A Great Biography of a True Jazz Legend
Interesting, informative and extremely well written biography of Clifford Brown. Captures the authenticity and humility of Brownie. Details of his performances and recording dates are so insightful and informative that we will listen to his music in a fresh and different way.

Great book about one of the greatest trumpet players to ...
Great book about one of the greatest trumpet players to ever live. Who knows what he could have done had he not been taken at 25.
