How to install bars on a 2002 Jeep TJ
This is review is primarily install instructions for Jeep TJ owners. The TL;DR version is ...if you have a Jeep TJ, buy this. You won't be sorry. Getting in and out of a Jeep with even a minor lift is just way easier.------------REVIEW------As far as "review" goes though? And why five stars? ―The welding is superb. Materials appear to be more than sufficient (thick flat plate, solid bar steel, decent rubber grips). The design is a bit different – and superior IMO – to most of the grab-bar products I checked out on Amazon before choosing this; the [generously thick] bottom plate is a hydraulic press cut out, with strengthening channel and a 1/2 round for the solid steel bar weldment.Fitment to the Jeep TJ was near perfect ("near" only because if the mfr would have sliced off the outermost ear vertically about 1/4 inch, installation would have been FAR more obvious, and additional instructions unnecessary). I give it five stars for design, materials, and manufacturing, an "excellent value" rating, and a "highly recommend" (for the Jeep TJ crowd).------------INSTRUCTIONS------There were no instructions included ...and I'm guessing that would be okay for other vehicles? But for a TJ with a hard top semi-permanently mounted, these instructions may save you some time and frustration. Because prior to trying to bolt the grab-bar in, you need to FIRST cut a small notch in the forward upper door trim to fit the outside of the plate. As always: YMMV.To begin you will need Philips and flat-blade screwdrivers, a cutter, a 3/8 rachet with extension and T40 driver, and a small flashlight (well, I needed one, to check the centering of the flat place holes on the Jeep frame).1. take out the three small Phillips screws in the forward upper door trim and set them aside2. using a flat blade screw driver, prise out the lower end of the trim piece, being careful not to pull it out so far you break it - that would be bad - and do NOT try to pull out the roof end (it's not necessary as you're just giving the cutter enough space to make a simple cut)3. while pulling out SLIGHTLY on the lower end of the trim piece, force your cutters into the TOP of existing notch, and cut out a piece to fit the outside curve of the mounting plate (check the pix for the size you'll need ...the cutter kind of snaps the necessary length of plastic off anyways; the cut won't be pretty, but it's really out-of-sight-out-of-mind, so don't worry about cosmetics in this case)NOTE: there's no reference pix for the next three steps4. unscrew the INSIDE - and ONLY the inside - torx screw from the windshield frame5. lubricate one of the longer screws from the hardware pack, and "hang" the center-vehicle-side hole of the mounting plate on the fastener (note: the grab-bars come unmarked, but there's a driver side and a passenger side ...the long side of the plate goes toward the vehicle center), screwing it in while leaving "just enough" friction to be able to rotate the grab bar with a bit of force6. unscrew the OUTSIDE T40 torx fastener from the window frame, and rotate the grab-bar plate up so the outside hole is centered on the windshield hole, lubricate another of the longer fasteners included in the hardware pack, screw it in tightly, and finish tightening the center side torx fastener(NOTE: You'll have to trust me on this, but I just saved you at least 30-45 minutes of cussing and head-scratching and maybe stripping out the windshield bolt-holes.)7. Using the flat-blade screwdriver, CAREFULLY leverage the bottom of the window trim up over the flexible rubber door piece it sits on (it helps to keep the blade toward the center-vehicle flat edge of the trim piece) until it is fitted properly to the windshield piller, and CAREFULLY screw the three Philips screws back into the B pillar.8. Repeat for the passenger side grab-bar9. Check the torque one last time on the T40 fasteners, clean up your project, and call it a day.YOUR total time should be well under an hour (probably a 1/2 hour) ...my time was considerably more on the first bar I connected LOL.------------PIX------I've no idea which order Amazon will actually post the (9) pix I uploaded for this "review", but I'm including a pix of the tools, a pix of the original notch in the channel trim, a pix of the trim piece semi-removed from the B pillar, a pix of the cutters notching the trim piece, a pix of the notched trim piece, a pix of the [driver side] fitted mounting plate, a pix showing the trim being prised back into place, the fully mounted passenger side plate, and a final view showing both bars mounted and the mess on the front seats of my Jeep before I cleaned it all up and "Miller Time" lol....you're welcome.

Looks good quality is horrible!
Horrible product. It was very easy to install and it looked like a great product. But after installation it was very weak and bent back and forth really easily. This is not made of steel and the material is very soft and will not last at all. Don't waste your money it's pure junk!

Pretty easy installation with great results.
Straight forward installation.Remove the factory bolts then thread the new ones in and out a few times to clean the threads. Blue thread locker was used at the factory. You’ll need to trim the plastic door trim slightly for a clean fit. (See pic)I used a screwdriver and tapped it lightly with a hammer.Add blue thread locker and tighten to torque specs.Very happy with this product. After having this on my TJ fo a while, I noticed there's an issue with these handles. If you"re parked on an incline and grab these to get in, they'll bend backwards.Apparently they're intended for a pull down or side pull entry.I'm still using them but may have to reinforce the brackets in the future.

Very good product! I highly recommend it
I absolutely love these handles. They were super easy to install and is very sturdy. I used the original bolts, not the ones in the pack. No particular reason, it was just easier.

Flimsy. Moves back & forth. Avoid.
2 problems1) Made out of soft metal. It bends when you pull on it. You have to actually push it back so it doesn't look wonky.2) Product not the same as the pictures. The one pictured has a shaped & reinforced flange the one delivered just plain flat plate.Manufacturing different batches or just sourcing them inconsistently I don't know but avoid these if you want a good grab handle for your TJ. Too late for me to return them so I'm throwing them away.(Should've noticed that 20% of the reviews were 1 star and that most of them stated specifically the soft bending metal)

Great value!
This is a must have for any lifted Jeep. This is a quality produce at the best price I found anywhere. I did have to cut and notch the Jeep Rubicon plastic interior trim around the windshield to get it to fit.
