I like these filters as I find them easy to breathe through and are comfortable to use in public or while working in the shop or yard.

I use it when I do my bug spray every 2 months. I use a powder insecticide that makes dust when I mix it with water. Using this M95 mask eliminates all of that. Snug, and does the job. I use this through the whole spray process and feel confident I'm taking care of business safely. I'll order again when I need some, but these are going to last me a long time

I've tried a number of these inexpensive respirators, and have settled on this one as my favorite. The 3M 8511 fits well, is comfortable, has good straps (fabric covered; won't tug hair), and has an exhalation valve (I wear glasses, and this helps keep them from getting fogged up, besides making breathing easier and keeping the mask cooler). They're also pretty inexpensive. Yes, you can find slightly cheaper N95 masks, but not at this quality level. Great for sanding or any sort of construction work with particulates in the air. I have them in all of my emergency preparedness and disaster response kits (I volunteer with CERT and the Red Cross, among other groups).The one thing these masks aren't ideal for is to put on medical patients that may have a contagious illness (for that purpose, you don't want an exhalation valve. The 8210 or a cheaper dust mask would work in that case).If you need more protection, or a mask that you can use longer before you need to toss it (you can use these more than once, but not forever), look at the 3M Particulate Respirator 8233, N100 (blocks 99.7%+ of particulates, rather than 95%+), or the similar 3M 8293 P100 Disposable Particulate Cup Respirator with Cool Flow Exhalation Valve, Standard, which adds an additional level of protection against airborne oils and similar chemical contaminants.A cartridge-style respirator is also a good choice for anyone that finds themselves using these regularly. My favorites are the 3M 6502QL Rugged Comfort Quick Latch Half Facepiece Reusable Respirator, Medium and the 3M Medium Half Facepiece Reusable Respirator 7502/37082(AAD), Respiratory Protection, Medium. Both well-fitting, comfortable, and fantastic.

In terms of fit, dust leakage around the side of the mask, and durability this is a better quality filter mask than the ones I have used in the past.The construction of this mask is a bit different from others of this general type. Most masks of this type have little depth. This mask is thick and has two part construction in depth. The surface of the mask is rigid on the outside. The interior of the mask is softly compliant. The springy exterior of the mask keeps the straps from pulling out, keeps the valve where it needs to be and holds the mask shape. The interior of the mask is soft, follows the curves of your face and wicks away sweat. The compliant, soft surface of the interior is perhaps the most important feature of the design both in terms of the fit and in preventing from dust from working its way around the side of the mask into your nose and mouth.The breather valve has been added to reduce the effort in breathing through the mask. This is not the only function the valve has. The valve is positioned to guide your breath away from your glasses. This means that on cooler mornings that my glasses do not fog up. If you do work which routinely requires masks you will recognize this problem. Heat rises. With a mask without a valve my warm breath rises from the mask and fogs my glasses. The valve exhaust is positioned to prevent that. On all sorts of levels this mask has been carefully thought through both in design and construction.By the way I have no relationship with 3M or any of its distributors. As described, these masks have the comfortable breathing valve and double rubber bands which are thick. The mask is substantially thick and padded so finally at a decent price.

Great mask for dust and painters will buy more in the future
