Great for a budget!
I’ve been tight on money lately, so I was looking for a shaver that would do the trick on a budget. Now, I’m going to be honest, I chose this shaver because it looked cool. There was something about the blue accents that caught my eye. To my surprise, it actually looks better in person than online! This shaver isn’t going to change your life—it’s certainly a budget shaver—but I was surprised by how cleanly it shaved, and the whole thing even came with a heartfelt thank-you note from the manufacturer. (The English on the box and in the thank-you note wasn’t perfect, but it was endearing.) For $30, you’re certainly getting your money’s worth, hence the 5-star review. Here are the pros and cons.PROS:-Clean, close shave-Looks pretty-Comes with a USB charger, brush, and an outlet adapter-Has a personal thank-you from the creatorsCONS:-Doesn’t contour super well, so you have to push in a bit-Not amazingly smooth on the skin as a result (I recommend using lotion after)Like I said, not perfect, but certainly worth the price.

Works Well for the Way I Use It
On the plus side, when I compare this to foil shavers--which I have used for years(Mainly Braun and Panasonic)--this rotary shaver is much quieter, better on the neck, and stays cooler. On the negative side, the shaver feels a bit underpowered when compared to the foil shavers; and the trimmer is especially weak. Perhaps the quiet and coolness are trade-offs for the power difference. However, my approach to shaving justifies (for me, at least) making this five-star evaluation. With a tough beard and a tender skin, I switched from blade shaving to electric razor shaving to avoid cuts and nicks. After a while, I decided to electric shave AND blade shave in that order. Although that may seem to be a lot of extra work, the whole process still takes me under 10 minutes. Incidentally, I've used this rotary shaver dry and --after reading the instructions--wet. It works better wet. I've used a variety of shave gels and creams--Proraso. Cremo, Geo F. Trumper, Musgo Real, Menü, and Neutrogena--and they are all good. As for the blades, I'm currently using Schick Hydrox 5.Update: August 20,2019--After six months the shaver stopped working, doesn't run while plugged in and doesn't recharge, totally dead.

Great shaver, low price
My trusty Norelco finally died after 15 years, so decided to try this low-cost option. The head seems a bit bulbous and isn't natural in my hands, but I'll probably get used to it soon. After a week, I'm on the charge it came with and its doing great--easily shaves a two day old medium beard and smoothly shaves my throat area. The heads are set in from the edges, so it is a bit difficult to get the 'crease' between the nostrils and upper lip. I shave dry, so can't speak to the wet shave aspect. This shaver looks exactly like several others on Amazon that go for $10 more, so it seems to be a very good deal. For those wondering, the water splashes on the listing pic are just added for effect--shaver is mostly black with nice metallic blue accents and a silver colored trim around the head. Due to the shape, it will not rest flat on its back and it tends to roll around. The pop-up trimmer is very flimsy and the blades don't seem to cut through hair very well, but I never used those much anyway. It came with a USB cord and wall charger. Note the USB cord is unique (or perhaps other USB corded shavers have it too) in that the normal USB end goes into the charger, laptop, etc, while the other end looks a bit like traditional shaver plugs that have two round holes that slide onto the two round recessed prongs in the shaver. Out of curiosity, I tried a couple of the old shaver cords that plug directly into the wall, but although the shaver end looks the same, they will not fit into this shaver. A normal USB cord will not work, as it does not have the unique plug that goes into the shaver socket. So, if the cord that comes with this is lost or broken, I think I'm hosed. Thus 4 stars instead of 5. The shave isn't real close and those with a 5 o'clock shadow may start seeing it more like 1 o'clock.

Broke quickly, no warranty
I was initially pleased with the Solimpia razor - it charged quickly with a clear charge remaining readout from any standard USB socket (the razor end of the cable is proprietary, NOT microUSB, unfortunately), and it stored plenty of energy for multiple quiet, quality shaves. However, it was difficult to clean, as the black piece that should hold the blades in place wouldn't stay attached to the head. Opening the head to empty the cut hair caused the razor heads to fall out unless I was VERY careful. This was quite annoying, but I was willing to live with it, though it did keep me from writing my usual 5-star review for products from Amazon that I considered worth recommending. Then, less than 3 months after purchasing, the razor began making an ear-splitting noise when running. I thoroughly cleaned the head, blades, and all other assemblies (I've owned triple-head electrics all my life), but the noise is so loud it actually hurts my ears.I attempted to invoke the "1 year warranty" for a repair or replacement, but it's a lie - all of the warranty information links I could find lead straight to Amazon's 30-day return policy, and I'm unable to locate any warranty contact information on the Internet by searching on Solimpia. I then belated noticed a question on Amazon Q&A asking for the warranty contact information, with the only answer "Throw it away and buy a different razor".Way to NOT stand behind your products, Solimpia! :-(So, this razor is a nice initial design that apparently won't hold up under normal use, with a thoroughly worthless "warranty". Definitely NOT recommended! Color me disappointed.
