Perfect fit 2017 Ram 3500 tradesman
Excellent front mount hitch for 2017 Ram 3500. Provided a secure mounting point for a hitch mounted which or simply a trailer ball or receiver mounted hook or shackle. Strong and well built. Easily installs in factory tow hook mounting location. If you get longer bolts you can reinstall the factory tow hooks. If you use the factory bolts they are slightly too short to reinstall the tow hooks however that is not the fault of the hitch. Very sturdy.

Tight fit but works well.
Bought this for my 2014 Ram 2500. I need to mount a bike rack in the front because we haul a 5th wheel and after much research decided a front mount was the best. My truck did not come with the tow hooks so the bolts provided with the hardware would be too long. I bought the same size bolt, which is an M10 (which is esssentially 3/8"), 1 1/2" long. I used the washers and nuts provided in the hardware package. I didn't upgrade to M12 or 1/2" bolts because I thought that would have been total overkill as the hitch is rated for 500 pounds and 8 M10 bolts are more than adequate to hold 500 pounds, plus it's a tight fit, having that bit of extra wiggle room was very important and made for an installation without brain damage. There is a piece of plastic trim in the location of the hitch (see pic) and at first I thought I'd have to remove it but it has some flex so I was able to get the hitch in. I got one bolt in on one side then put another, without the washers, on the other side so I could snug the hitch into position. I also had to use a piece of wood to leverage the hitch up (due to the plastic trim piece) and was just able to get enough of the bolt in to get one of the nuts on it. After snugging it into place, I then added another bolt with the washers and snugged that in....then I removed the washerless bolt and installed all the other bolts, washers and nuts. Then I alternated side to side tightening as directed. Came out great. Definitely put some tape along the edge of the bumper to protect the finish before you install the hitch.

Don't Worry - You Can Do It!
Just finished installing Reese 65063 hitch on my 2015 Ram 3500 Laramie dually. Given other reviews concerning the inadequacy of the bolts, I purchased 12mm x 50mm flanged bolts from Amazon (Class 10.9 Steel Cap Screw, Phosphate & Oil Finish, Flange Hex Head, External Hex Drive, Meets DIN 6921, Flanged, Non-Serrated, 50mm Length, Fully Threaded, M12-1.75 Metric Coarse Threads, Imported (Pack of 10), part number B006HYFUNA) and re-used the nuts from the original, shorter bolts which held the two front hooks in place. Three thoughts on the bolts: first, they are a much more substantial than the bolts that come with the Reese 65063; second, they are the same color, diameter and "look" as the originals; and third, they are not fully threaded, but they don't need to be (the description is wrong, the CAD diagram of the item is correct). The original locking nuts fit the new bolts perfectly. The Reese 65063 fits the available space perfectly, but as other have noted in their review, the holes seem to be slightly misaligned (perhaps the misalignment explains the smaller bolts provided with the hitch). I had to ream out one hole about 1/8". After the reaming, the bolts all went in perfectly. I installed the inside top nut by taping it to an 18mm wrench (as suggested by others) but I was able to attach the other six nuts by hand. The receiver has about an 1/8" clearance, top and bottom, from the bumper. To avoid scratches, I not only taped the opening but laid an old sheet along the bottom of the opening. Looks great!

Perfect product perfect fit
I paired this with the waverspeed tow hooks which is thicker then the factory tow hooks, used the bolts and nuts that came with this and had absolutely no issues, all bolt holes and where at the correct height and location for a direct fit, it fit in the intended space was super easy to install. So far they have been on the truck for a year +1mo. And I have not had any paint chip, all welds have held fine, and fully functional. 10/10 great valued product

Highly Remmended Over The Reese/Drawtite Recommended Receiver
I installed this unit today after looking, unsuccessfully, for a review or video of the process. It took at least a few hours while multi-tasking with other projects but most of the time was spent learning all the nuances of my bumper assembly. Unfortunately, I had to learn through trial and error but I am hoping this review will save you the effort. First of all, I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab with 5.9L Cummins. According to Reese/Drawtite this model 65063 is not compatible or recommend for my generation/model truck. However, I didn't like the recommended under mount option because of the loss of ground clearance and the requirement to drill holes and cut a notch in the air dam. I saw this model hitch and immediately wondered why they didn't make this style for my model Ram? After checking measurements for the hole pattern and the height of the receiver I couldn't find an obvious reason why it wouldn't fit. There were even a few reviews where they claimed it fit similar models to mine but they didn't elaborate on the details. First, make sure you have the correct mounting hardware. If you are going to retain the stock hooks, make sure the bolts are long enough to accommodate both hook and receiver flange thickness. Also, you will be removing/destroying 4 plastic buttons/fasteners that hold the painted fascia to the top of the bumper. This is the painted plastic body part that wraps around the front of the truck just under the headlights. Believe it or not, besides the two tow hooks, this is the only part of the truck you have to remove to position the receiver in the opening. Next, remove the 2 T-bolts on each end of this plastic fascia. They are directly below the back edge of the headlight assemblies. Next, remove the black plastic step on the top of the bumper just below the hood latch. Do this carefully with plastic prying tools such as those used on the interior to avoid scratching the painted plastic. The fasteners are very tight and numerous but all will eventually pop out without damage if you are careful. Next, using the same prying tools, remove the 4 lower button-like fasteners on the underside of the same fascia piece. They are evenly spaced in the middle on the lower lip and will probably not survive being forced out of their holes. They are tough to remove so I recommend using a pair of diagonal wire cutters or similar to finish the job without applying too much force. That's also why you need 4 new fasteners (which can also be purchased on Amazon) before you begin. Once these steps have been performed, you can then remove the plastic fascia to reveal a larger, friendlier opening in the middle of the bumper. Assuming that you have already removed the 2 tow hooks, you can now install the new receiver into the opening in the middle of the bumper. Starting from the left or right side, slide the receiver, mounting flange first, into the opening under the edge of the bumper, and continue to slide it across until both mounting flanges are lined up with the towing hook holes. Note on orientation: this may be somewhat subjective, however, I found that the receiver fit better with the welded reinforcing plate (see product photo) on the top rather than the bottom as some have depicted it. It also simplifies the replacement of those 4 button fasteners by giving you more room to insert them. With the plate in the lower orientation, it would almost seem impossible to install the fasteners unless you have better tools than I do! :-) Now you are ready to reassemble everything in reverse order and you're done. Just a couple more important things to point out. Some have recommended reusing the original towing hook nuts. I think it could have been because Reese/Drawtite might have supplied them with the wrong hardware. I don't recommend reusing the nuts for a couple of reasons. First, the old nuts are locking type nuts and are a real bear to tighten by hand with the cramped space available. Second, the reason given for reusing the nuts was because of the absence of lock washers in the kit. The hardware package I received came with stainless metric hex bolts, hardened nuts and high quality Belleville style compression washers. If you properly tighten this hardware, I promise it will not vibrate loose on you! And with that, my last point is... use a torque wrench to do the final tightening. Especially if you plan on using this receiver for a high powered winch. BTW - If, you want to take the easiest (lazy) option and don't care if you do a little cosmetic damage to the fascia, just cut/remove the lower plastic lip of the fascia at each end of the bumper opening and you can slide the receiver into place without removing the fascia at all. That will probably save you about 30 minutes and likely won't even show when you're done! Good luck!

Tricky install for one person, but...
I really like this hitch! Well built, great finish and appears to work as intended. I would rate it 4.5 stars because I think the kit bolts weren't thought through. I read about 20 other reviews on how installation would go, but it seems they have changed the bolt holes in this hitch since those reviews to slotted holes, making it much easier to line up with the mounting brackets on my 2016 Ram 2500. Read as many reviews as you can stand, because it will prepare you well! This isn't a quick installation, so plan on being on it for awhile, like 3 hours if you're by yourself. I started by getting the front end of the truck up on ramps for more access room. Then removed the original bolts and tow hooks, took about 1ยฝ hrs because I worked alone. I replaced the bolts with 7/16 flanged grade 8's as well as 7/16" flanged grade 8 nuts. That made install much easier because I didn't have to deal with washers on the inside. Basically, the same set-up as stock only 7/16" instead of 1/2". The nuts & bolts that come with the hitch will go in my spare hardware can... I used a piece of 1"x3" pine and some shims to basically hold the hitch in place. Then duct tape to hold the tow hooks and bolts in place while I got the nuts started on the right side. Then did the same on the left side. You'll find yourself bringing out about every combination of sockets, extensions and wrenches in the box to find the right ones, but that's always the case, right? I even taped a 11/16" box end to a stick about 16" long to get some of the nuts positioned! Many of the reviews suggest removing the grill, the air dam and even the bumper, to get this install done. But if you take time to think it trough, no of that is necessary. Just get creative and one person can do this. I was able to figure it out by just the removal of the tow hooks. Granted, two sets of hands would be easier but it can be done alone in 3 hours or less.

Holes do not line up, Arrived Damaged from poor packaging and Reese is unwilling to help
The "front hitch" for my RAM3500 arrived in a box about 3 to 4 times the diameter of the hitch (look up YouTube video on This item called ("draw tight front hitch from Reese via Amazon for my Ram 3500 unboxing damaged condition") There was absolutly zero packing materials or wrap around it which allowed it to float around inside the big box beating it up from the inside, ripping holes in it on both ends and the sides and then allowing the hitch to be exposed outside the box where the shiny black paint was beat up and chipped off on both ends as well as on the tip of the receiver hitch. I mean...it is a trailer hitch and not a piece of art but there is no chance that these exposed parts will now rust first. This forces me to either return the hitch (which doesn't sound like an issue) but I need to start using this thing so I may be forced to rattle-can spray paint it instead. Not something a person should have to do on a new hitch out of the box. The hitch says made in Mexico on it. I don't have a problem with that but I'm wondering what type of quality control these have on them and then welds themselves if there isn't even oversight on how they are being packaged at the shipping department before they arrive at Amazon for further shipping. This did NOT come in an Amazon marked box but was an Amazon order from the manufacturer. This is NOT the fault of Amazon for the damage on delivery. It is the fault of whoever boxed it up at the factory. Also, I wanted to see if it would even line up in the first place so I removed my front cleats on my truck and put this hitch up to the bolt hole locations. Neither the left or the right side lines up on the bottom slotted holes. There would be no way possible to mount this without drilling out the slotted holes with a much larger drill bit and I don't have anything bigger than a half inch so this is not happening. When I called Reese I was definitely speaking with someone down in Mexico and although they were polite, they were also unwilling to do anything to help the situation so I advise them they can eat the return then. I am forever done buying Reese products.

This works great but takes 2 people to install
The product is designed well, ships quickly and is as easy to install as can be expected. It's difficult to get to the bolt holes behind the bumper on the truck. Not any fault of the hitch, It's just tight to get to the bolts behind the frame and the bumper. Works well, seems sturdy. handy to have a hitch on the front of my RAM 3500 dually in case I need to use my winch or haul my generator on the front while using a truck camper in the bed of the dually. Fast shipping, good product.

An excellent front mount hitch
I ordered this front mount hitch to maneuver my boat under my overhang. It was easy to install and concealed and looks good on my truck.I would recommend and buy this hitch again.

Simple design that works
Looks well built but I havenโt put it to the test yet. Installation was relatively easy, a couple of bolts were difficult to access and thatโs about it.

Not an easy installation.
The bolts that come with it are a smaller diameter, it's likely original diameter won't fit due to less than perfect alignment. Hopefully the smaller bolts will hold up if the tow hooks need using in an emergency. A couple of the nuts on each side are a pain to install (at least on my Ram 3500 2018), very hard access and the probability of dropping a nut or washer into the abiss is probable, some included spare hardware would have been nice. Other than that it's a nice unit.
