BerardFrench Olive Wood 13-Inch Handcrafted Wood Spoon, Terra Collection

It is a gorgeous, beautifully made, superior quality...paddle. The description says 2 inches across, it is over 3 inches across, therefore not useable for the purpose. If you want a gigantic spoon, you will not be disappointed. it is very well made and beautiful.

The name Berard is synonymous with excellent quality and this wooden spoon fits that description perfectly.This handmade olive wood spoon is simply beautiful; the scoop part is very thick and big with a sturdy handle yet the spoon is light in your hands.One thing to note is that the spoon measures about 11.5 inches in total length (including the handle), and not the 13 inches or the 12.8 inches as advertised here!It also came lightly oiled with a beautiful finish - which after multiple uses lost some of that shiny satiny finish after washing. The manufacturer recommends using mineral oil/beeswax to preserve the quality of the wood and I agree with that suggestion. It pops right back after lightly oiling.All in all this is a very sturdy spoon and can handle a range of tasks from working with heavy batter (cakes, breads), to soups and sauces. The best part is that every thing washes off completely and it doesn't stain - not even when used to make blueberry jams/jellies!!!!*** May 2014 UPDATE! ***I recently purchased an additional spoon and was somewhat dissatisfied with the quality that I returned it. This new spoon came with a "Berard France" logo that was imprinted on the tip of the handle (previous ones did not). This spoon had the same beautiful satin finish and did correctly measure 12.8 inches! However, the tag attached to it said that it was made in Albania! What was even more disappointing, was that the bowl of the spoon showed signs of splitting in the wood grain. As a result of these findings I can no longer recommend Berard spoons, especially due to the costs and the lack of quality control.

This is a beautiful spoon for to use for cooking and serving. Its handle has a nice shape as you can see in the photos; it is comfortable to grip. The grain of the one I received isn’t as beautiful as some of my other Bérard pieces, but it is a nice and useful tool for my collection. It has been well finished; it is very smooth with a soft satin look. I do wish that the design of the head of the spoon were a little deeper to collect more food.

It was little bit different from what I have purchased from Williams Sonoma. But overall quality is good and sturdy enough. If you like Berard products, it should be a good purchase.

I use this spoon to stir my spaghetti sauce over the hours it takes to cook. It’s a great spoon and the wood is solid. I love it so much that after five years of use I bought another one to have as a backup. Make sure you also get a butcher block conditioner to rub in to the dry wood every so often to keep it in great shape.

An expensive but a quality product. The wood is so pretty one hates to use it. Its bowl is much larger than its competitors but I like that. The only negative is the rather sharp ending of its handle which conceivably could be a source a somewhat painful accidental jab. The length is as advertised. All in all a very good product.

This is a very pretty and sturdy spoon. I will give this all five stars if it was an inch or two longer. Since it is wide and beautiful it looks stubby. It is strong, I use it all the time.
