Good practice for the exam
Good practice for taking the exam, even though I did not see many of these types of questions on the real exam. These questions are in general more difficult and tricky than the ones on the exam. It helped practicing with questions in the same format as the real test.

OK, but has some errors
A few chapters in and I have found quite a few errors. Some where no answer match the described solution, some where the questions are formulated so that the answer describes a non-matching case. This makes me unsure if I have other questions right even when I check the answers..Otherwise the questions are tricky and answers describe solutions well. Each one helps you understand obscure rules in Java a little better.

Just good
It has very good practice questions but I think they are not enough, it needs the double I think to be a complete in my personal opinion. Anyway, whoever reads this book, will learn a lot about the topics in the exam.

The questions are well researched and the explanations are well done. This is a great addition to other books when preparing for the OCAJP exam.

An annoying book
I keep finding mistakes in answers and content that are not on the OCA test. Wrapper classes are not on the test and he has several questions on them. Mala Gupta's book is much better. Also, lots of typos.

Well prepared exercises.
Excellent exercises for practicing. I highly recommend it.

Two Stars
Questions are at times even more absurd then the exam questions

Good value for the price, but flawed
It's hard to complain about a technical book that costs only a few pounds. For the price, it's hard to fault this book -- it does exactly what it claims to do: offer a large number of Java 7 exam practice questions. The questions seem to cover the necessary syllabus areas and, with a couple of rather startling exceptions, those questions that have unambiguous right/wrong answers are answered correctly (with an editor and a compiler on hand, it isn't hard to check). The answers to those questions which call for interpretation or value judgements are more, well, questionable. How should one answer this question, for example "An abstract class with all abstract methods is equivalent to an interface (T/F)?" That seems to be something calling for an essay answer, rather than a true/false. Sadly, this is a problem with the multiple choice format itself and, no doubt, affects the examination as well as this book. Be that as it may, I think there's room for more detailed explanation of many topics in the answer section. The chapter dealing with inheritance and polymorphism struck me as a bit rushed. There's a couple of places where the answers don't seem to match the questions, as if the author changed his mind about the ordering and didn't check the changes thoroughly enough. It's notable that this book does deal with the new features in Java, such a string-valued switch statements and multi-catch exceptions. There aren't many exam books covering these subjects yet.I would guess that the author doesn't have English as a first language. The English is pretty good, to be fair, but it would benefit from a good English-speaking technical editor. On the whole, worth the money; but with the faults I wouldn't have wanted to pay any more.

The way that the author groups the questions into topics is really good. And the overall quality of questions and explanations .
Very well structured and organized. A very valuable book for practising and preparing for the exam. The way that the author groups the questions into topics is really good. And the overall quality of questions and explanations of answers is excellent and well written. I only noticed 2 main mistakes which were in the answer section: Page 149 and 157 (sections 1.3 and 1.11) 'synchronyzed' has wrong spelling. The questions are designed to be hard, and some are very hard. But it's a learning aid to help you with the exam. There are only 120 questions in total, which is not really enough. I found that using additional practice exams from Whizlabs helps as well, to practice the topics that were learned in the book.

Full of mistakes
There are far too many mistakes in this book. There are examples of answers given that do not exist in the options. There are also too many examples where you view the answer and the answer is not correct and does not match up with the explanation. I would only consider buying this if you already know java well and can work through these mistakes. If you are new to java then these practice questions may easily confuse you.

This book gives the question from objectives of the old exam format, which may confuse the candidate with the exam topics. Ex: topics such as enums, operator such as (ex-or, shift) are not in the current exam objective.
