A good tongue in cheek book on the Zombie outbreak and what you can do to survive in a Zombie world.
Like a lot of weird people I am a great fan of “The Walking Dead” television series and I have been a fan since the first episode. I also enjoy movies about the Zombie take over like “World War Z” and many others. I have also read and reviewed numerous books on this topic.I recently finished reading this book (Surviving the Zombie Outbreak: The official Zombie survival field manual by Gerald Kielpinski and Brian Gleisberg), which I picked up on Amazon for a bargain price. This 271 page fully illustrated volume covers the entire field of Zombie lore. The book is organized into two parts and they are as follows:Part one covers chapters 1 to 13, which includes information on the virus, carrier nature, your target, firearms, other weaponry, what NOT to do, what to wear, home defense, your kit, communication, dependents and pets, survival habits and long-term survival. Part has tips for in field on mission chapters 14 to 21, which includes teamwork, planning a mission, exit strategy, vehicles, on foot, hot spots zombie hunting, ethics and barter. There are also five appendix sections covering distractions, early warning, terminology, sample Zombie log and pre-mission checklist. If you are concerned about the present Zombie crisis you need this book and its survival tips. I found this “tongue in cheek” volume an informative and amusing book about the upcoming Zombie wars. If you are into the Zombie wars you might want to check out this book.Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: The Reverse Grip (BRG) Baton System: A basic manual for law enforcement and security officers)

Trust Science?
I love the Kindle, but bought this in paperback for when the power goes down. It's well-written, well-edited, lavishly illustrated with color photos, and follows current military manual format with straight-forward presentation of the subject matter. It's somewhat simplistic, and gives a broad overview on a number of key topics rather than the in-depth presentation that characterizes Brooks' 'Zombie Survival Guide' (ZSG). Most of the material is not particularly new or unusual, though it does present several subjects from a different perspective, and there is significant overlap with the ZSG.I did find the continued exhortations to 'Trust Science' to find an answer to the zombie problem somewhat amusing, in a 'check's in the mail' kind of way. That said, this book is a useful adjunct to the ZSG. Well worth a look.

cool little guide
cool little book i thought the whole book was made paper back but its more of a glossy page type of book so wasnt to happy about that but other then the make of the book it was actually a pretty cool zombie guide with images of people in zombie attack situation which kinda caught my attention i also liked the various options that are given to you in combat and survival related situations like weapon preparation, food resources and other helpful things it mostly has everything a survival guide would have only the entertainment of the zombie infused guide lines great for a gift for the zombie crazed fan in your life.

Not an apocalistic person
This book uses a hypothetical world where a virus has turned people into flesh eating expired homo sapiens(Zombies). The book is rather simple read, and even when it presents rather obvious and reasonable approaches to possible scenarios, is fair compiling most of it so it is understandable and believable. I mean, IF something like this really happens, I see myself applying most if not all that is explained here.Entertained me for a while, and is illustrated. For the person who likes to know stuff, survival reading, or just for fun, it was worth my 9 bucks.

Has some fun but lacking in the polish.
If you have read a few zombie books, there is not much new here, and a few topics are talked about over and over for some reason. It does have some in depth thoughts on a few areas and some others are very simple. It is very casual and easy reading though as long as you like the topic of zombies. Is it terrible no, but it also is not great. Just somewhere in the middle and is not a tale of survivor stories. It is more like a manual or a guide. It lacks illustrations in the almost everything it talks about doing, with the exception of homemade maps and making a diversion arrow.

A good read for those who like thinking through end of the world/zombie scenarios
This book is a very well thought out version of the kinds of survival manuals we zombie fans know and love. In some ways I feel like it builds upon and expands The Zombie Survival Guide. The reason is that book started the craze, it inspired a lot of other people to write and think about the topic and possibilities. As a result this book could come later with a whole lot of time and creative platform to build on. I will always like the zombie survival guide, but this is a worthy book to keep next to it on the bookshelf.

Awesome book
If you liked the Zombie Survival Guide, you'll like this. It is similar to the ZSG except with less "fluff" in terms of stories, etc and written as a real survival guide. Includes a lot of real information in such a fictional book, some highly in detail, some slightly simplified (examples include assisting in child birth, descriptions of all firearm actions, firearms safety, how to clear and unload firearms, etc). Lots of pictures to make it interesting as well.

My son loves it!
I can't believe I got the kid to read!! He insists on reading it to me, so I am learning quite a bit myself. Even though the book itself is in jest, you can pick up a real life tip here there. Really just love that my son is reading and it isn't a gamer magazine!
