I love this frame. 😍
The Basics I bought this frame to use as my personal bed for daily use. The parts are solid hardwood. All bolts and fasteners were included. The only tool required is an Allen Key and I actually received two (one in each part baggie). The directions were printed in color, 1 page per sheet of paper, and stapled together. The directions were easy to understand and follow. The frame was shipped in two separate boxes, the first with all the long pieces of wood and the second box with the frame ends. All sides of the wood frame are finished a uniform color and all my parts came without defects. The Story My frame arrived a day earlier than the initial expected delivery date. I had to work from home to make sure the packages were received, but that mini crisis was averted. I live in a 4 floor walk-up in NYC. FedEx brought the frame up to my front door (which is 1 floor above ground level). I was able to carry the frame up the rest of the flights, one box at a time, without assistance. The box with the long wood parts is the heaviest and I say it weighs about 50 pounds. When I opened the boxes, I found the wood parts wrapped in plastic and spaced apart with styrofoam to prevent bumping, rubbing, and scratching during shipping. I inspected each part and matched them with the parts list included in the instructions. The small parts were also wrapped in plastic and cardboard was taped to the outside to help prevent them from being crushed. I separated the parts into the three major groups: lower frame (couch seat), upper frame (couch back), and the base. This is also the order the instructions will walk you through putting everything together. The directions recommend two people to put together this frame, but I was able to complete the assembly by myself. I recommend going through the instruction book at least once, before actually starting assembly. From what I have read in other reviews, I feel people tried to rush through without paying full attention to the instructions. The couch seat and back portions use very similar parts and if you do not follow the color code, I can only imagine the problems you will create for yourself. The instructions will also instruct you to leave bolts loose. My recommendation is to hand tighten everything until you see the note to tighten the bolts. That is when I used the included Allen Key to make everything tight. Once you have finished assembling your frame, I recommend testing the conversion process without a mattress. You will see that the base is designed to lock the frame in place as a bed if you push forward (from couch front position). I imagine this is designed to prevent the bed from folding up when laying or sitting toward the frame center. The reverse will need to be done before converting the bed back to a couch or recliner. I knew I was not purchasing a “wall hugger” frame, so I purchased pads to prevent scratching my hardwood floor when moving my bed toward or away from my wall. This introduced a unique problem, that you may not encounter if you have carpet. Before converting my bed, I lift straight up on my couch back section. If the frame lifts up too, then I know it is still in the locked position. Then I know to hold the frame and push it to the unlocked position. I then walk to the other side of the bed and complete the same movement. When converting to a couch, I start on either side and lift the back up until I see my mattress start to fold. Then, I lift the seat portion and use a squeezing motion to bring the ends closer together. The weight of the mattress and frame will start the frame to rise into couch position. I then walk to the other side and make sure that side is locked into position before sitting. Because there is no spring loaded assistance and you will need to check both sides, I think this frame will better serve you placed in a location where you have access to both sides. Great & Sturdy Futon Frame!
Bought this futon for my daughters room since she took all her furniture to college. Wasn’t sure when I purchased if I would love it, but no regrets! This futon frame is beautiful & solid and the color is perfect for the theme I was going for. Bought mattress separate, but goes perfect with frame. Assembly was a little challenging for one person, but the time and frustration ended up being rewarding. Buy now!

Love the Product, Hate the Wasteful Packaging!
At first, the instructions were a bit vague, but after I finally identified all of the pieces, I was able to put this product together by myself within a couple of hours. It folds down into a full-size bed quite easily, and can comfortably fit two people, but it doesn't return to the upright position as easily, at least not for one person; this is not a big deal since it's our guest bed and won't be opened and closed daily. This futon seems very sturdy and the mattress we purchased is very comfortable. We are very happy with this product! A NOTE FOR THE ENVIRONMENTALLY-MINDED: This product comes with an excessive amount of wasteful packing material (pictured). Plastic sleeves cover nearly every plank, the hardware is contained in plastic baggies, pieces are bundled together by plastic straps, and worst of all, the long box is lined with styrofoam. All of this could have been done sustainably with shipping paper, moulded shipping cartons, and remnant fabric. I truly hope this company will reconsider its use of unsustainable packing and shipping materials in the future. I have provided the seller with this feedback, and encourage any others who have purchased this product to do the same.

Nice all wood piece!
This is a really nice all wood piece. I planned to place the frame perpendicular to the wall so I was a little worried what the back would look like and I couldn’t find any good pictures. There was no need to worry - all the back pieces are finished and I’m quite pleased with how it looks (see picture of the back). Instructions are straight forward, especially if you have put together other home assembly furniture. Assembly took me about two hours and there wasn’t anything particularly difficult, just a lot of pieces to assemble. Frame is put together in three sections: back deck, seat deck, and bottom frame, so plan to have some extra room available during assembly. Instructions state a second person is needed to install the back deck into the frame – you should get a helper for that step as the back deck is fairly heavy and you don’t want to get the frame scratched up. Frame is quite sturdy and very comfortable. Overall I’m really pleased!

Sturdy
This frame was easy to put together. I did it by myself in about an hour. The back was a little cumbersome to lift by myself, but I managed. Great quality and attractive.

Furniture purchase
All the photos showed the frame and the mattress for the Futon bed we purchased for $300 - thought it was a good deal . Only the frame came. No coverage for return shipping - it would cost $230 to return to the third party seller. I am now stuck with a frame that will take 2-3 hours to put together and no mattress. I wish I bought it at a store and could have avoided smoke and mirrors

Hard to open/close
It is very difficult to open/close this frame alone. Also, when opened (bed) the back sticks out further from the frame than when it closed (couch); my previous frame did not. So having it as a couch up against a wall means it must come away from the wall to be opened into a bed. However you can't just left up the seat and pull out to open it, nor lift and push in to close it, like my previous frame. I opted for the wood because it is prettier and a more sustainable material than metal but the metal frame I used to have was much more functionable. The metal frame also felt sturdier. When opening/closing this wooden frame I fear I may break something, for it feels wobbly and too easy to bend the long wooden piece running the length of it.

Just What I Wanted
I was somewhat daunted when I opened the main box(it came in two, one for the bed, one for the base) It looked like a jumbo sized Jenga game! Turns out that it wasn't as complicated as it seemed. Once I got it laid out, it was pretty easy to assemble& the directions were mostly clear. It calls for 2 people to assemble but, I live alone and am isolating. I used my best redneck abilities and was able to do it myself. I'm a 64 year old woman who is a bit overweight and arthritic. I'm really impressed with the quality of the wood. Helpful hint on converting from bed to couch, which isn't in the instuctions: Pull forward on the front of the seat about an inch, until you hear the click/thunk. Stand on one side, pull up on the top of the back while pushing down on the center until you hear a click/thunk. Repeat for the other side. That brings you to the semi-reclined position. If you want it in the total couch position, repeat the process. I don't regret buying this but if I had to do it over, I'd buy a metal one with the automatic latching feature.
