New Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis: the Complete Collection Vol. 4 (The New Avengers: The Complete Collection) Paperback – 16 May 2017

The New Avengers are my favourite superhero team with such a great line up. This series itself is also fantastic with some great dialogue and stories .In this collection we get all the Secret Invasion tie-in issues (which don't make too much sense if you haven't been reading the rest of the series or the Secret Invasion event proper), the Power storyline in which our heroes clash with Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers and the Search for the Sorcerer Supreme story where the Avengers fight Dormammu.The Secret Invasion stuff fills in a lot of the blanks in that story arc and enhances the event even further.We great some great character stuff with Luke and Jessica and just excellent moments when they tear apart the Marvel Universe to find their kidnapped baby. There's loads of great interactions between the characters as well. The storytelling makes this Universe feel big and lived in.Great trade and far more economical than the standard 6-issue volumes (16 issues for the price of two of those volumes). We get a nice variant gallery at the back, explanations as to what the Secret Invasion covers were homages to and lots of sketches. We also get some recap pages where necessary throughout collection. The binding does mess up some of the art though, especially since there's a lot of two-page spreads. Find some scans online and enjoy the art properly.My copy is a little f-ed up. The cover doesn't cover the whole first page or back page with a bit of the edge exposed. A couple trades I've bought recently from Amazon and it's friends have been like that. It looks okay on the shelf and you can still read it okay but it does suck.

I am not a declared fan of big events that envolves great quantities of collections and tons of comics, usually are just a strategy for sell more issues.But this trade is one of those happy exceptions. The volumen collects issues #38-#54 from the collection of New Avengers Vol.1 + Secret Invasion: Dark Reign One Shot.You will find here a couple of arcs, but mostly the "glue issues" between all the thing developed on the three previous volumes about the secret invasion, and also conects with House of M events. The arcs mentioned are good, not the top notch of Bendis, but are enjoyable readings and the art is quite good.I have to say that those numbers are better for me than the secret invasion event itself xD!And finally you have the arc of the search for the new supreme sorcerer (the title provides the general plot...) and also is an interesting story that setting the magic scenario for the incoming title (New Avengers Vol.2)
