Black Thunder: Gabriel's Revolt: Virginia, 1800

A classic tale from a slave's perspective
Bontemps' tale provides an interesting view of what the slaves could have felt during the days before and after the attempted insurrection. The focus throughout is black men and women and their hopes and feelings without totally ignoring the horrors of slavery itself.

May the spirit of Gabriel live on.
An eye-opening journey back in time to the realities of forced free labor & the courageous souls who set out to annihilate and uproot that very system await the readers of this heart wrenching tale.

A good read (it's an excellent novel) but also an important and influential interpretation of a tragic historical event that the author carefully researched before writing. Someone, however, needs to inform Amazon that Arna Bontemps is this novel's _author_, not its "editor"! I note that Amazon provides no way for users of its website to give it feedback about or corrections to the basic information about a book that it provides. (If Amazon does allow this and I missed this, please let me know how to do this.)

Great historical fiction about an attempted slave revolt (as the title suggests).
The thing I liked about this "product" (a book): It was a great read!
