Cannot believe Amazon sells this
This book fails to meet my expectations as it reads like an elementary school report with little helpful information. It additionally gives terrible advice. It advises the reader to purchase exotic pets because "they're inexpensive", and can easily be disposed of if you don't want them anymore. This kind of thinking is one of the reasons animal shelters are so full, and I am horrified I paid money to support an author with such despicable views. Since returning this book would cost more than it is worth, I'll likely be throwing it away as I would not wish to donate this book and spread such misinformation

Do NOT Buy This Book.
After talking to several veterinarians, the information in this book is so beyond incorrect that it isn't funny. Please do not get this book if you want to take good or great accurate care of your guinea pigs or other cavies. Talk to a vet directly, and if they don't know what you are asking then find someone who is correctly qualified online to tell you. Please don't risk your guinea pig's health by buying this book.

The author refers to male and female piggies as does ...
The author refers to male and female piggies as does and bucks. They are sows and boars. Even though it mentions diseases in the subtitle all you get is half a page which says that piggies are not subject to disease or parasites of any kind and that plenty of warm bedding will cure colds/snuffles. That is wrong because my daughter has kept piggies for many years and has had many illnesses including bloat, hormonal problems, glaucoma which meant the removal of an eye, and many others. The rest of the book is okay but people buying piggies should not be misled about the illnesses they can have. It also mentions giving piggies milk soaked bread squeezed almost dry but adult piggies are lactose intolerant.
