Mounted 1 each at the top inside of the steel doors. Holds door open and closed. Been working great for a few weeks now, only concern is how well they tolerate winter temperatures.

Mounted one strut on our airstream medicine cabinet door. It was quite heavy and didn’t stay open, so always a problem. Although measuring and mounting the strut was difficult in the tight space we had, we are very happy with the initial result. Product came quickly and was priced fairly. There were two mounting plates to use with different orientations but since the package didn’t contain an explanation, this took us some time to figure out. Also, the measurements given were in mm only- it would have been nice to also have empirical measurements for use in USA.

Well, let’s say that I bought this product in-spite of the challenges many others had posted about.After completing my installation I can tell you why others were challenged as was I.This product is designed for cabinets with horizontal doors. Think of a hinge covered toy box flipped over on its front side and mount the bottom to the wall up near the ceiling. These gas shocks were designed to hold up that front door and is not designed to give you a soft close as the description indicates (like some stated after mounting to a toy box). I myself, installed them on a large hope chest made of heavy cherry and cedar. The tongue weight of the lid alone was 22 lbs. which is why I was interested in this product. After installation, it did what I wanted them to do, which was to hold up this heavy lid and added the benefit of opening assist after ½ way up. By no means, do these struts offer a soft close. So, if you are considering this for your kid’s toy box, then move on to another product. The reason there is no soft close is due to its design. By the time the cover is closed, the strut has reached it’s full compression and therefore, no resistance left because the strut is out of travel. Not a design flaw, was just not for chest type lid closer.There is only 1 set of instructions and it’s on the package. The measurements are in metric so I got 2 rulers and put them side by side and did the conversion and wrote down the SAE (US) measurements on the package. Even the pic for the instruction shows it is for a cabinet with a horizontal door. The measurements are also based on the cabinet using hinges designed for this type of application which not the standard household hinge you might be thinking about. But, if you do choose this struts for a similar application as mine, you can use the same measurement number they show from the ceiling and butt it up to the standard hinge opening. See enclosed pic.This is actually decent design of the strut. I got out of what I wanted and it is doing exactly what I wanted. :)Amazon should really reevaluate as a safety product for toy chests. Super sturdy and love easy install

Bought these to replace a cheaper pair of hinges that fell apart on install. Installation was simple although the instructions were written only on the clear plastic bag; no separate instruction sheet with the spacing numbers.Once installed I realized they do not slow the last 3-4" of the close action, they do raise the lid completely after opening only a few inches. I will see if I can upload a video later.

Works as it is supposed to. Easy to install.

I bought this incredible music componentcabinet that could probably withstand a nuclear blast-EXCEPT FOR the gas-poweredsupports that support the turntable compartment lid. The original ones were inadequate and failed after 2 months. So I removed them, drilled a couple of holes to intall these new supports...and presto! All the support I need to keep the lid open.8 months later and they still work great.

I have 2 kitchen units which needs these fittings..each unit needs 2 fittings per door. (4 in total)I got one pack which contains 2..I used 1 per door and they now work perfectly... not need to replace both fittings on each door.very happy

Schlechte Qualität. Ein Stück ist aus dem Kunststoff-Teil abgebrochen. Artikel geht zurück. Ich werde den Artikel nicht umtauschen, sondern das Geld zurück erstatten lassen.
