Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits, Vol. 1

Good Premise, Nice Otherworldly Setting
My main reason for purchasing “Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits” was for the artwork and the huge range of character designs. Lucky for me the premise of the story was very alluring, which made it difficult to put down and sad when the first volume ended. So much so, that I did a search to see if the next manga volume was released and if the manga was made into an anime. There are a few out there that have done this such as “Yona of the Dawn” and “Ao Haru Ride” but then stop suddenly…not sure why.Unfortunately, Amazon is missing the entire first part of season one for this anime Prime Video. I also noticed that the “Original Japanese Version” with English subtitles is missing, which is sad. I like the original Japanese version on anime became of the great care they take in hiring the correct voice actors for their characters. This is something that is overlooked when dubbed in English. Hence, my preference for the original Japanese versions when watching anime. To that end, the main human character, Aoi Tsubaki, has an almost harden soulless expression at times that is difficult to overlook and complements the characters personality perfectly as the reader learns a little of her and her grandfather’s backstories.Another interesting concept is the Crimson Crystal hair ornament that the Ogre “Ōdanna” gave to Aoi. The Nine-Tailed Fox Ayakashi, Ginji, mentions in passing that the Crimson Crystal is a rare crystal that can alter its form. This is a very appealing notion, and one I can’t wait to see how this idea plays out.Even Ginji makes for a very interest character with his ability to alter his appearance and to put Aoi at ease in her current predicaments. Even the hint of Ginji knowing Aoi from when she was little makes for another great mysterious lead-in.So, I originally came for the wonderful artwork by Waco Ioka and the huge array of characters by Laruha and got so much more with a wonderful story by Midori Yuma that leaves you wanting more. This is truly a pretty blending of artist talents.

Cute Story
I saw the anime and loved it. The Manga is just as good. It's a cute story with compelling characters. I only wish they would write/publish more quickly, there are not a lot of volumes out.

My Absolute Favorite Food Manga Ever!
I have never bothered writing a review for manga as you can find lots of reviews on nearly every title out there. But, Kakuriyo introduced me to the "Food Manga" genre (as well as Temari and I can Never thank the creators enough for that beautiful discovery!!) and I fell head over heels for this series. So much so that I had to write a review to express my adoration and gratitude! Everything about this story is fun and mysterious. I want Aoi's adventures to go on and on but I also want to know what happens! It's the perfect mix of past, present and future to keep you engaged in the storyline. But, hands down, my absolute favorite aspect of this manga is the supreme mix of Yokai/ Ayakashi and food. A lot of Aoi's cooking scenes are written in a way that you can almost follow along as a recipe. I found this to be engaging as well as inspiring! I've even tried cooking a couple of the dishes from this story at home! And while I love to eat delicious food, I'm not a very good cook. These books inspire me to become better skilled in the kitchen. And I Love that!! I can't wait to find out what Aoi decides to do in the future! I know who her mystery childhood Yokai friend is; I hope you figure it out soon, Aoi!!

Great story, art, and characters! Husbandos!
Such a great series about ayakashi, and a human girls adventure into the spirit realm! I think the characters are drawn and really well, and I loved the anime, so I'm excited to pick up where the anime left off!! It's so cute and good! One of my top favorite anime to watch, and the books are a great outlet with just little details tweaked here and there that were probably more to the books. So I like that part. Highly recommend!!

A Solid Ayakashi Story
Kakuriyo is a good series. It may not be the flashiest or most dramatic/action packed manga of all time, but it is solid and a good romance. With the market inundated with so many "meh" series at the moment, Kakuriyo has a blast from the past feeling similar to Kamisama Hajimemashita. The book itself came in almost perfect condition. No complaints.

Awesome Ayakashi!
I first came upon this as an anime. đź’śanime. I fell in love with the story. I watch it about 5 times a week, if not more! I came upon the manga while trying to find Ayakashi artistic info, as I'm an artist. Downloaded it immediately. It's a little hard to get into since they're in Japanese style right to left. Wish they would number the reading order. That's my only complaint. I want to get a paper copy so I can colour it. Don't gasp! I know I'm not supposed to, I'm an artist! Crave is awesome for anime. I have too much time on my hand since I turn 60 in November. Lolđź’ś

Great storyline.
Great reading the Manga after watching the Anime on Funimation. The Manga follows the anime pretty closely. I definitely recommend this story to anyone who likes a good story. The illustrations and storyline make you feel as if it's something you're watching instead of flipping pages on. The story it self is similar to Shrine of the Morning Mist.

Awesome
I really loved the anime and have watched it several times so when I found out about the light novel and manga I had to read one of them. I really like the drawings and how it looked especially since it was one of my first manga purchases on the kindle. I totally recommend it in the kindle edition. Now don't get me wrong I love the feel of holding a book in my hand but I like that I am less likely to lose it especially when I move.

Ligero e interesante.
