I got this for my 5yo daughter for her “crystal” themed birthday. She was very excited, though there wasn’t that much for her to do since she’s young so I did most of the tasks: Pour poisonous crystal mixture into cup, add boiling water, drop hedgehog in, wait 48 hours. You can see from the pic what it looks like after 48 hours. Neat to see the science happening, but the final result doesn’t match the advertised pic. I’d buy it again… it wasn’t too expensive. Since it’s apparently very poisonous, I threw it away after a couple weeks.

It grew some crystal on the back that were as advertised and some on the face. Yes it gre crystals but not in the number that the photo showed.

We followed the instructions exactly, plus it was not our first time using a crystal growing kit, so we knew what to do.It worked, but the crystals didn’t grow as long as in the picture. Also, shortly after removing it from the water, a greenish layer started growing over some of the crystal, making them a fuzzy green.Overall it was a fun experience and the end result looks nice, but I’m giving it less than 5 stars because it didn’t come out like the pictures.

It came out perfect! We followed the directions to the letter, let the water boil about a minute (whistling teapot), then after two days soaking, we got a perfectly spikey crystal hedgehog! We used a flashlight to monitor crystal growth while it was submerged, because the liquid is so dark, even the flashlight on my phone couldn't shine all the way through, but you could see crystals sparkling. Crystals also grew on its face, but they cleaned off easily. They also grew as a carpet all over the floor of the container. I don't know what to do with all this pretty blue crystal, but I love it!

My great grand daughter is already showing interest in science. This is a nice way for her and mom to share a project while they're waiting on their tadpoles to become frogs.

I thought it would grow bigger but that's ok. It was fun to watch it grow and the crystal part does not really stick well.

Bought this for my 9 year old grandson. He loved it. Didn't take long at all for the crystals to start growing.

My kids were super excited to do this. We followed the steps. After 48 hours, nothing!
