Needs standalone battery charging.
Recently purchased this unit to take videos of my farming efforts (cutting, raking, baling hay) for relatives who want to see whats up. I looked at the thousands of clones of the SJ4000 system and blindly picked this one cause I couldn't tell them apart. The box arrived on time. It is a surprisingly professional looking item. The box felt like it would protect the unit reasonably well during shipment.Upon opening the box and removing the unit, I was further surprised at how solid the camera and its "water resistant" mount/housing felt. But it was up to me to figure out how to extract the camera and configure it because, as with all modern products, the "owner's manual" is written in Engrish and leaves much to be desired - like instructions. In fact, I think the decoder ring I got with my hi-top US Keds in 1966 had more detailed instructions and definitely better grammar. It has a baffling array of little connectors and adapters and mounts (Oh, my!) that come with it, and a picture of how 3 of them might be utilized, but you need to enjoy mechanical puzzles (I admit it - I do) to get your money's worth out of this.As far as how to operate the camera itself, you are totally on your own. I tested it for a total of about 4 hours the other day and most of it was self-explanatory, but one of the 2 dozen or so little experimental videos I made turned out to be 7GB long (in ~20 seconds worth of video - expecting more like 10 MB) and I have no idea how that happened, but it obviously filled the memory card right up and caused the camera to stop. Also, when I first started recording, it had a nice display showing amount of time used, but that stopped and I have no idea why, or how to get it back; now its just a red dot with no numbers at all.I would have given this another star, but had to hold one back specifically, because even though it comes with 2 batteries, and has a standard micro-USB adapter, you have to use the camera to CHARGE the batteries. So, you either cant use one while charging the other (the way someone would expect to use multiple batteries) or you have to buy an extra camera just as a charger. As I use the unit, I will update review if it deserves something different.

Received the Tronsport SJ4000 on time and in good condition. Because of the lack of information in the manual I had a difficulty trying to operate it. I emailed transport support on the 3rd Jan and as of the 12th I'm still awaiting a reply. In the meantime I bought a newer larger capacity micro SDHC card and after trying various things I was able to get the cam working. I haven't done extensive recording and playback with it but after several hours trial and error I think I have it working to my satisfaction. The cam seems to be well built and does a good job recording for such a small camera.Other than the start up frustration and the lack of support I think it's a great little device.

very impressed.
I initially was a bit nervous about this camera, however, read a few reviews then proceeded to purchasing this camera, upon receiving it,let me tell you it exceeded my expectations,After a few days of use.Build quality is awesome, doesn't feel light and cheap, but sturdy and good quality.Video quality was excellent,Damn near gopro hero 3 quality, even in 720p 30fps video was excellent, very impressed.Sound quality is amazing, its clear loud and smooth.Picture quality is great, maybe not as sharp and crisp as iphone 5 pics but definitely great enough. All the mounts are great quality and there are plenty of them. All in all i am very happy with this purchase, for the price you absolutely cant beat it,The only interesting thing is trying to find new spots to mount the camera. Thanks for making this camera, love it.

Order this, and I doubt you will be disappointed.
Simply amazing. Avoid the pricier WiFi version, this model does everything you need. Definitely for the budget amateur all the way up to a professional willing to risk a dangerous angle for a mere $70 to $100. I recommend more than one battery. After a submerged test of over 12 hours at one foot depth, I am convinced Tronsport is giving GoPro a run for their elitist brand name money. Of course you get what you pay for in electronics typically. I consider this model an exception to that rule. Buy it new, as you should with any camera.

Tiny little camera, easy to assemble and workable!
Bought this waterproof camera for my upcoming Snuba trip in Maui, Hawaii. I assembled it, youtubed the ways how to use and how to not losing SJ4000 while snuba :)Remark: Not sure whether is a genuine product or not, found the manual has a lot of typo error and the product is made from China, but they got the QC checked label on the box though. Will update the review again when i'm back from the trip, stay tune!

Excellent value. Recently purchased and it has been used a handful of times with great satisfaction and success. My son bought this to use for snowboarding and he was able to easily set it up himself and he is really enjoying it. It takes a solid quality video and photo. Easy to transfer pics/videos to the laptop and iPad. Would certainly recommend it as an cost effective alternative to the more expensive brands...especially for a teenager. He's very happy with it and proud that he got such a great price for it.

I have to say that this is an awesome sports camera
I have to say that this is an awesome sports camera. From personal experience it's quality is fantastic and comparable to that of the Gopro cameras which are 3-4 time the price of this one. The only shortfalls of this camera are it's battery life and the mode selections can be confusing for a novice, but other than that it's definitely worth the money. I would highly suggest getting a 32G Micro SD with this as HD recordings eat up space.

Worth the price. Video is solid with good color. Only knock I have is could use a better printed manual. Takes a little hands on learning to figure which mode to set up for use. Still I give it a 5 compared to others I have used in the past. Has plenty of attachments to help mount on just about any surface.
