This book was a great read aloud for my class.

Bright colors. Fun illustrations. The world of Cassie could be any child's world--if they are VERY lucky! Although this book was written primarily for black children, it a wonderful book suitable for any child. I bought it as a "just because" for an 85 year old friend. She loves it and will share it with whomever she sees fit.

My 22 month old daughter loves this book! She is very into the books that show one picture, one word and has always enjoyed pointing at things so she could name them. This book features alternating pictures of objects and then those objects in a setting. The setting in this book is the same as Tar Beach by the same author, and the picture's show a beautiful girl in her apartment, in her school, in her room, etc. I was so happy I found this book and Tar Beach as well as others by the same author. The artwork is expressive and creative and kids really relate to the pictures and stories. A great addition to the home library or classroom.

Cute book to help show that pictures help to tell a story.

I have recently become aware of Faith Ringgold's work. I am so pleased that she has children's books. This one details "Tar Beach" her quilt so a child can understand city life for children living outside of a city and an enjoyable time on the roof of an apartment building in the city with your family. It uses colors, the border of each page with quilt squares and beginning words for the youngest reader.

Cassie's Word Quilt is a perfect book to use along side Faith Ringgold's Tar Beach. They compliment each other and for the young reader/writer this book gives them multiple words to use. I've used it to inspire my first graders to create their own stories.

This delightful Book was received in excellent condition.
