Channellock CHL430 10-Inch Straight Jaw Tongue and Groove Plier

I had to call for help because I have lost strength in my hands. My help thought I should order these to have on hand to avoid the embarrassment of not being able to unhook the outside hose again. They work great for other things too. They are well built, the jaw alignment is perfect, they seem to be high quality, and rust shouldn't be a problem as they are housed in my garage with the other tools. Other than these being clean, they look just like the pair my Dad had when I was a kid many, many years ago.

I love my channel lock pliers. They fit nice in my pocket and they come in handy.

There are so many uses for these small channel-lock plyers; I just replaced three watch batteries in some Timex watches. I bought the Back-side removal tool on Amazon, the tool for Timex watches, and have no regrets, it prevented damaging a knife or small screwdriver. These small plyers were used to press the backside of each watch back on. I carry this tool with me and find it as handy as a pocket on a Tee-shirt. Quality tool!

I know you are not supposed to use pliers in place of a wrench, but the parallel jaws will bear on the flats of a nut better than slipjoint pliers, or the needle-nose that typically come on a multi-tool. Best of all, these pliers are small enough to carry in a watch pocket or shirt pocket. I'd rather carry these and a couple of well-chosen pocket knives than a multi-tool that has to be worn in a belt pouch. Tekton 5-inch pliers are quite a bit cheaper, but do not carry as easily. The gold standard is the Knipex 5-inch Cobra, but they take as much room as the Tektons and cost thirty bucks. I'll put them in a motorcycle tool kit, but for everyday use the Channel-locks suit me best. Update: when I bought these, they were $8.99 (or $9.99?). Now I see they are $12.99. I take away a star for the unjustified price increase. At that price, I would give greater consideration to the Tektons. Update: the price is back to $9.99, so back to five stars. My colleagues have started coming to be to use my pliers, so I have encouraged them to buy their own. I drive a school bus, which has all kinds of small fasteners needing constant attention. Pretty soon all the cool kids will be carrying them.

Always had great luck with these. I own many pair for work, home, auto, farm, etc. Great pair of pliers.

Channellocks are the top end of pliers. Yes, you can get "aftermarket" for less but life is short and I don't need to be replacing tools regularly, or not be able to count on what I pick up. These very small pliers sit both inside and in my tool kit in the garage. Solve many "holding" jobs well. I use these enough to wear a set out every 10-15 years, which is fine ... compared to the rough as guts units which rust or slop around. Not cheap, but cost per year is more than reasonable, with trustworthy performance.

Gostei do alícate esta marca americana da channellock fábrica bons alícates para hidráulica e canalizador ,os acabamentos podiam um pouco mais caprichados mas pelo preço de 20€ não se pode pedir mais por isso retirei uma estrela , pois penso que a channellock podia fazer melhor nos acabamentos dos seus alícates podiam estar mais polidos com um acabamento mais refinado.

Everyone probably should get one of these, great quality and get the job done

Comprei esse alicate porque sou fã das ferramentas Channellock, porém, quando o recebi, notei que é bastante frágil (não demonstra a mesma robustez dos outros alicates da marca). Comparando este alicate à chave de aperto Knipex 86 03 125 (a qual já possuo), é nítida a diferença de construção entre ambos, ou seja, a Knipex é infinitamente mais sólida. Por isso, devolvi este alicate para comprar outro Channellock que seja mais resistente. NOTA: li diversos relatos de outros compradores que tiveram problemas com o Channellock 424 (o alicate quebra no entorno do rebite).
