Eric Johnson - The Art of Guitar

I have a lot of instructional videos and I have gotten very little from them. Most of them are just running through lick after lick.I mean, I think learning licks is better than plodding through a Mel Bay Learn Guitar 101 book. But there are going to be little tips thatone needs, to get over a little problem blocking progress. One of those tips may be here for you. EJ shows several ways to play and in doing so, one of those ways may turn on a light for you. Now I don't have a high interest in the style of play presented as "his style",but that isn't why I purchased the video. I was looking for a few tips, tricks, methods, etc. There would be more of that in this session than all the other videos that I have, combined. If you are looking for 100 licks, look elsewhere. Now where did I put that echo pedal?

Eric Johnson is without a doubt one of the guitar "giants" of our time. This is an excellent video in that it gives you the feel of a lesson. You get to see his hands and he explains how he approaches the instrument. My only complaint would be that it does not come with a booklet or book of his examples. While this is not a traditional instructional video, I still would prefer to have some licks & tricks to practice from the video. However, overall it is a great video - excellent lighting, picture and sound quality, showing of hands, etc... you get the idea.

If you're a fan of EJ's playing then this is an intimate look into his style and techniques. If you are a beginner and are looking for basic instruction on guitar playing this is probably not for you. I recommend his first DVD "Total Electric Guitar".I have all three of his instructional material and I treasure all of them. Each one is an update on his techniques introduced on the previous one.

The depth of knowledge that is represented in this video, can only be realized if you take the time to see the small details that Eric shows in the video chapters.

I did not personally watch this DVD, but I gave it to a friend of mine who is a huge Eric Johnson fan, and he told me he was very happy with the quality of this DVD! A great buy.

I love Eric Johnson's guitar playing and his choice of sounds,He is an incredible guitarist and a composer. I've been searching for a dvd that will inspire me as a guitaris for 20yrs as well as challenged me to the next high level of my musicianship. Well my search is over! this dvd has cause me to approached my playing in a higher level technicaly and most of all MATURITY OF MUSICIANSHIP.

It is always nice to see and hear an excellent guitar player like Eric, there is always something to be learnt from him.

Cool advanced techniques by Eric explained. Not really for beginners, but show why Eric is a GOD guitar player!

Excellent combination of a detailed but understandable tuition dvd, with studio band session of new material.

Le DVD manquait le livret de musique. Il avait l'air d'être un objet d'occasion. Très cher pour un produit de cette qualité. Sans doute pas la faute d'EJ.
