One of the most important books in current American history. Everyone who wants to know what's really going on in the country will find many unnerving answers here. Heavily sourced and annotated, this book is full of facts about the unelected Continuance of Government group and the deep state political apparatus that runs the country below the outward elected political leadership. Some content is drier than it needs to be, as if to preemptively dismiss accusations of hyperbole, and some of the book is a hard slog. But the actual primary content is well under 200 pages -- as I said, it is heavily sourced and annotated and documented in appendixes that run for almost as long as the original chapter's content. A must read during this worrisome times.

Dr. Scott's latest book on the deep state, (the hidden system that actually runs the government) is an outstanding, unparalelled analysis of our broken political system. Meticulously researched and well structured, this book is for everyone who wants to understand how the government is really run and who the major powers actually are. We hear about the "military industrial complex" and the NSA, CIA, and Wall Street. But how are they all related? What does Big Oil have to do with any of this? Scott weaves together an understanding of what is happening in today's world like no other scholar. (There are one hundred pages of notes as well as an extensive index.) Yet Scott is not a complete pessimist about his findings. "The study of history is one of the most effective ways to avoid repeating it." The Epilogue is a poem by Scott, "Greek Theatre: Mario Savio and the Socratic Quest," a magnificent ending to this intellectual triumph.

Book is not light reading, but goes into depth on some characters involved, mostly in the continuation of government planning. Some group is taking over America, and are doing it by stealth. They have their players infiltrated into the most powerful positions in government, and these folks are ruthless, lawless, arrogant and callous. The playbook is create a crisis, grab power. Create fear, impose control.

Peter Dale Scott is the most important political analyst of the deep state. His incisive examination of causal relationships regarding the nature and scope of political power, who has it and how it is exercised, is crucial to understanding the nexus between the deep state and organized crime, the critical examination of the sub-rosa reality behind surface events, an attempt to unmask the true face of power, exposing the elite social, economic, and financial groups and individuals who benefit from the exercise of State coercion.

I'm reading the Kindle edition. Like the book, but there are no links between footnote numbers and the footnotes, and many links to webpages in the notes are not live. Sloppy "translation" from print to Kindle version of this important book. I'll comment later on the substance, but I hope the corrections will be made. One of the benefits of an electronic book is easy access to the (hundreds of) footnotes without having to flip pages, and direct access via a click to links with external webpage references, whether in text, notes, or bibliografies.

Informative reading and eerily accurate. I find people are either intrigued enough to look beyond the superficial or they live happily in the controlled state of corporate and government run media.

All of you trying to understand what happens in Syria and Paris today, read this one. The scope is vast and detailed and only a scholar who have studied the shadow side of american politics for over a half of a century can do this, write a book for everyone to grasp and understand. There are not that many thoroughly researched and footnoted poets out there.

Peter Dale Scott has a profound contextual knowledge about the history of our intelligence services. He explains in detail how the systems function. He also shows how they fund themselves. If you haven't read his work you should.
