Good book for your reference shelf when reviewing colonial documents.

Very few examples of writing

Very disappointed in the content of the book not the serves of the seller nor amazon.

I have been transcribing documents and this book has been helpful with handwritten wills, correspondence, ship logs, and many other documents. There is also a brief history about the inks and quills used.

wish I had this little book 35 years ago when I got started. Have no Problems now trying to read old records for my genealogy

Small but very useful aid in handling many, many old documents. I do a great deal of indexing for the Mormons in their program to digitize their entire microfilm library.

I must have not read the description well (which is unusual for me), but 3/4 of the book deals with religion and parables. Only 20 or so pages, (at the end), actually contends with understanding and reading/writing Colonial Handwriting. Not too pleased. Not because I do not like religion, but it wasn't what I thought I ordered. Thankfully, I also bought Kip Sperry's book, "Reading Early American Handwriting" as a backup.

Definitely will be helpful, especially the examples of different forms of documentation.
