Worth what I paid for them
OK, these are not $50 to $400 a piece brushes, but they were definitely worth the money.Rectangular roll-up bamboo caseThe good: They are Kolinsky hair brushes, not synthetic. They do pick up paint. I like the triangular shape grip on the handle. The bamboo roll-up is nice. Yes, the brushes are loose and there is no flap to hold them in. Tie them snugly and add more brushes. They are perfect to take outdoors and abuse for quick work. The are assembled well-the metal is firmly attached to the varnished wood base. The bad: They do not keep a point. The largest brush was the worst for having fibers spread all over. The smaller brushes were better.I purchased these to take outdoors. I have a couple of very expensive brushes that were gifts. They may be better, but I will not take them outside. These are exactly what I wanted for outdoor work.

Kolinsky sables are a MUST for oils, watercolors or acrylics
Gave these as a gift to my on again, off again artist daughter. She cried! She's been going back to her painting and she's excellent. She had recently purchased a cheap pack of brushes and was really frustrated. She wasn't able to get the details she wanted. My painting professor in college in the early 80's lectured that if we splurged for a Kolinsky Sable, we would have them our whole lives. I'm here as a witness to that Truth. My Kolinsky 1" bright is alive and well and has been used for nearly 40 years on oils and watercolors and acrylics. It is still perfect and holds a large amount of medium. There's nothing like the results an artist will get when s/he uses these. It's evident in the work that we see. It's the difference between an amateur painting and a pro. It shows. Do this for yourself or an emerging young or old artist. This will make a big difference in their work. Also be SURE to read reviews before buying. There are a large number of sellers proclaiming to sell Kolinsky, but when you see the reviews it's obvious that they are bogus.

Beautiful, well balanced and and a joy to paint with
These brushes are amazing! As a bamboo wrap is the best way to store brushes used with water based products this one is excellent and roomy enough that I could add some of my other favorites to store along with those purchased. The brush handles are well designed, light weight, balanced to the supple Kolinsky well formed brush and just plain pretty to look at. I love supporting a small company such as this who puts the needs and ideals of our artist community to the forefront with such excellent products. I look forward to doing more business with them.

Perfect for watercolors
These are very fine brushes. They hold water very well, and I especially enjoy the the handle shapes. So far, nonloose bristles. Good price for sable brushes.

Terrible! Hairy, won't come to a point. Useless.
These are terrible. Hairy, won't come to a point. Proved to myself, you get what you pay for. Save your money and buy one decent brush at a time when you can afford it! Actually, my synthetics are even better!

Very pleased with the brushes!
I was surprised at how well these brushes perform. They were inexpensive so I didn't expect too much. They hold the paint and so far they hold a point. I use the size 4 brush most often. I use them to do smaller watercolor paintings. I would recommend them and hope to purchase more in the future.

Quality water color brushes.
If you paint in water color then these brushes are for you. Great brushes at a good price. I usually paint in acrylic and oils and wanted to try water color, but my brushes I use just wasn't right for water color. These are quality brushes with a nice handle design and brushes come in a well made holder that should last for years.
