A 'must' in your library.....
As a Life Credentialed teacher turned ADHD coach to university students, I can assert unequivocally that Jodi's book should be considered 'the standard'. If you are at the end of your parenting rope watching your student academically hang themselves with ineptness, you MUST have this book.Jodi advises that the student is the client and the parent needs to let go and let the coach do their job. I have personally coached a student, before I read Jody's book, who told me what to watch for with her daughter with emails and phone calls all times of day and evening. As well, she insisted that the daughter not know we were communicating. As a new coach at the time, starving for income, I did it her way for a year. IT DIDN'T WORK and it totally depleted me and her daughter. Encouraged by Jodi's book, I eventually had to drop the client and move on to much greater success (and income)using Jodi's coaching strategies. From now on I will only coach "the Jodi way".Every parent should read this book, bite the budget bullet, and hire a coach so they and their student can regroup, restart, and reinvigorate their family relationships. After reading this book, if you are a parent, you will know the key questions you would ask a coach about their methods are "Do you know the strategies of Jodi Sleeper-Triplett and do you coach using her recommended methods?" If they do not, run far, run fast and find a coach who does.

Love this Book!
As a coach, for years I was never that excited about coaching students, although I was frequently asked to do so. My specialty has been coaching adults with ADHD. After reading Jodi's book, my attitude completely changed. I gained some very helpful tools for my toolbox that have, truthfully, made coaching students a really, really enjoyable experience. I was so surprised to find myself utilizing Jodi's contract tool (with a reward) to support the development of a new behavior. I also liked her description of how to utilize the parents, in particular, with high school age. It works! And she is so right about tweaking it re: college students. It's amazing how this structure still allows me plenty of room for my own style and approach as a coach.Linda Anderson, M.A., MCC, Getting Clear, ADHD Coach

Power book for those who love ADHD teens
This is a great book on empowering teens with ADHD. All too often these young people grow up hearing admonitions that imply or directly say "You're wrong, what's the matter with you, why don't you listen, will you just sit still?" etcThis book gives a whole new spin on guiding this population of ADDers. They, who are blessed to have a mentor, coach or teacher, who takes the time to read this, will benefit greatly. In turn, they will take their improved self esteem and self confidence into the world, and ADHD will someday not be a disorder that causes feelings of being lazy or stupid. Thank you for this book. It helps me with my work with adolescents and young adults who have ADHD.

Empowering Youth with ADHD, Empowering the Future
Jodi has written a highly informative and descriptive guide that cuts to the core of ADHD Coaching for teens and young adults.Parents want their children to become happy and self-sufficient adults. Empowering them sometimes calls for a different mindset, for both the parent and the ADHD teen.Empowering, simply allowing teens to have the opportunity to be more in charge of their own lives, is the book's inherent theme.Making plans for their future, developing action steps and strategies, being accountable, and being rewarded for their effort and follow through builds competence, which in turn builds confidence.Confidence, not only in the ADHD teens, but their parents have increased confidence in them as well.

Best "HOW TO" book I have ever read!
As my title notes this book is the best STEP BY STEP "how to do it" book that I have ever read. It is long on "what to do" and pretty much devoid of "fluff". It is jam packed with ideas for coaches to put into practice very quickly. If you want to coach high school and college kids with ADHD, this is the best resource you could find. Take her CLASSES too!
