Norden Quick-Read Professional Digital Cooking Thermometer

Wow! Was not really expecting this item to be so big! But that's a good thing! Having physical limitations with my hands, this is easy to hold on to.I started it, then placed it in the fridge we just had serviced, to compare the internal temp to fridge's digital readout. . . Thermometer read about 5 degrees above the fridge's readout. . . . it took about 10 minutes for the thermometer to get to that temp.--I also held it in a pot of boiling water, . . . after about 20 sec. it only read 210*. . . I took it out let it cool some & took the temp again-- it read 211.1. For boiling water, that is close enough for me- - - looking forward to trying it on cooked meat, to compare with my analog thermometer.--Will update later if I have any issues.

The media could not be loaded.  Just a quick test of the "quick-read" claim made by the manufacturer. It takes just about 20 seconds to run from 71° to 212° (fahrenheit) which is about 7° per second. If you were cooking a steak or roast to just medium rare, this thermometer would take about 9 seconds; higher temps obviously longer. The claim of a 5-6 second read is rather... fanciful... but I think this unit is quite satisfactory for the home cook.Additionally, it feels solid, is easy to hold/grip and the display is large enough to read comfortably. Accuracy is dead on. 4 Stars for this one.

smoked 25lbs turkey, check! This unit works great and results show instantly. One small complaint, you need a screwdriver to put in the battery. So that's a small bummer if you're excited to try it.

I bought 2 of these and the first one did not work. Seller was great on the return so that was no hassle. Was worth waiting for the second. I have used this 3 times now and temperature measurement is reliable and works within 5-10 seconds depending on how thick what you are cooking is, however, not intended to be an instant read but a quick rear device. Would buy again.

I am so frustrated with product. I was really excited to get it and the screw is so small that I can not untwist it to get the battery in it. What a poor design. What if you do not have a screw driver handy to get into the battery component. Now I have to send this back because I can not use it. I have never writted a bad review in my whole life but I am so disappointed.

I have not been able to install the battery toi try it out. It is just about stripped so I guess I will never find out.

The thermometer far exceeds my expectations. It is very heavily made and very sturdy. It is both instant and accurate. I have used it for both grilling outside and the oven inside. I highly recommend both the product and seller!!!!
