I love my Wee Believers Fr. Juan doll
Children in the grammar stage of development require concrete - tangible - objects and pictures to learn. I use the Fr. Juan, Virgin Mary and Jesus dolls and other props to teach the basic names in their religion and also the kids carry them in a “follow the leader to Jesus” procession when we usually sing our crowd favorite “Jesus Loves me” before having circle time to practice group prayer and have bible story time.I used a pack of felt sheets (from Dollar Tree, I think) and cut out neck inserts and decorated with gold glitter glue to make liturgically coordinated chasubles for our Fr. Juan doll. It was maybe a 20 minute project? One day I’m going to grab pre-cut quilting squares and make some even better looking ones but I’m pleased with how the felt ones came out, considering the time/effort reward.
