FishmanEllipse Matrix Blend - Narrow

I was looking for a way to amplify my La Patrie Collection classical guitar without making any drastic changes to it and this works perfectly! Everything is out of the way so it doesn't change the looks of the guitar and I can tell no difference in the acoustic sound. It was really pretty easy to install, but I am handy and confident with such things. However, I can't imagine a shop charging too much to install one on your guitar - unless some modification is needed. I thought I would have to modify some soundhole bracing but realized that it fit my instrument perfectly at the "7:30 by-the-clock" position of the soundhole. I can get to the high-quality controls easily between the strings for adjustments. The electronics are superb (that Fishman quality!) and the blender makes it easy to adjust for the best balance between the goose-neck mini-mike and the undersaddle pickup (which has great balance across the strings!)! I used my guitar the other day to accompany myself as I sang Christmas songs at a local nursing home. I was worried about being able to get the best sound in that room but the Ellipse Matrix Blend worked remarkably well and was easy to adjust! This was the perfect solution for my need!

No instructions for installation.no troubleshooting guide. The product looks of high quality but at this point it has no value. I regret not getting the Seymour Duncan sa6 mag mic. it recomends to have a professional to do the installation. Even professionals need instructions . no one is born knowing how to do anything.

I installed this to my Taylor 110, after tucking the mic for a more discreet look, and have been highly impressed in several different settings, from studio to stage, with the kind of tonal transparency that outperforms Taylor's Expression System.In-studio, the blending of the mic with a hint of undersaddle has allowed for a more subtle bite than simply using my Behringer condenser, not to mention the fact that I'm no longer held hostage by a stationary mic for recording. I can plug in, make myself comfortable, and play as free as a bird.Onstage, the clarity is just as noticeable, with a fuller sound than most AE setups I have used. This works well for recording live shows, as the line between studio and stage becomes nonexistent.For my aims of natural music in a synthetic age, this has been a worthwhile investment.

Great mic, and great buyer experience! It was shipped almost instantly and I could track it all the way long to the delivery place. Also was cool to check the updated status of the item during the travel.The mic is in perfect conditions in my hands.Has a clear sound and it works great both mics, the pickup has a strong signal and the acustic mic is also great becouse it gives a brighter sound, but have to be careful not to set the volume high to avoid couplings!.

My mom gave me her 1976 martin d 18 for my birthday and I decided to put a pickup in it. It has a beautiful tone that saddle pickups can't reproduce so after a bit of research I settled on this one and it is great! There are more expensive ones out there that got better reviews but I can only imagine how great those must sound because this fishman sounds great!

Love the pick up. It is dynamic yet subtle. I had it professionally installed so can't really say how easy the installation was but it was relatively inexpensive.

Unfortunately I only ordered one pickup but amazon sent and charged me for 3. Surprised to find that I had now paid $653 I figured it was meant to be that I have installed in my D16. HD 28 and a jamon Zeiler handmade.Well only one pickup worked, two are defective. Returns our not easy with amazon. No response no one returned email.I had to have guitar center take care of my returns. Thank you guitar center.Shame on you amazon. because the purchase date is when returns start from you lose a week immediately. Then to have them professionally installed. Its the right sound for the plugged guitar.If the installation was lead carefully, it's possible to fit this 6 strings transducers in a 7 strings guitar, like I did.There is no sound diference between the strings, like in my old Takamine, and the blend of mic and transducer it's fenomenal.If you have a good guitar (hand made or similar) and want a fenomenal e practical plugged sound without majors interventions on the structure of the guitar, this is your call.(Sorry for the english problems!).

Ich muss mich nicht lange durchringen, um für den besten Tonabnehmer, den ich je verbaut habe, eine Rezension auf Deutsch zu schreiben.Die durchweg positiven Rezensionen (auf Englisch) sowie das bisschen, was man im Internet nachlesen kann, haben mich dennoch vor dem Kauf ein bisschen skeptisch sein lassen. Man findet keine vernünftige Einbauanleitung auf deutsch (es ist auch keine beigelegt).Mit ein bisschen Suche findet man Einbauanleitungen auf englisch. Aber selbst die sind dürftig. Von dem (aktuell) einzigen Video zum Einbau ganz zu schweigen.Natürlich: hat man den Einbau einmal selbst begriffen, ist es selbsterklärend.Allerdings muss man erst mal so weit kommen...Der Pickup wird sehr gut verpackt geliefert. Der Piezo selbst ist nochmal in einer kleinen Plastikdose verpackt.Liegt alles auf dem Tisch, stellt man sich als erstes unweigerlich die Frage, wie das Teil verdammt noch mal im Body befestigt werden soll.Allerdings ist es tatsählich mehr als simpel:sucht man mit der genauen Bezeichnung ("Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend Narrow") in der Bildersuche im Internet, finden sich vereinzelt Fotos, auf denen am Tonabnehmer/Regler/Einbauteil selbst ein Teil zu sehen ist, das wie ein kreisrund ausgeschnittenes Dreieck anmutet und das auf das komplette Einbauteil geklipst ist. Wobei es sich bei den Enden um Steckverbindungen mit eingelassenen Magneten handelt.Dieses Teil ist in der Mitte mit einem kleinen Bolzen versehen, der in einem Loch steckt.Dieses Teil (das rund ausgeschnittene Dreieck) muss entfernt werden.Und hier kommt die Krux: auf diesem Teil ist Klebeband angebracht (schwarz, mit schwarzer Schutzfolie).Nachdem man sich die passende Stelle für den Einbau ausgesucht hat, löst man mit einem Plektron (oder Rakel oder ähnlichem) vorsichtig dieses Teil, zieht die Schutzfolie ab, klebt es durch das Schalloch von unten an den Body und kann dann das komplette Teil einfach anklipsen - fertig.Allerdings kommt dieser Schritt zum Schluss. ;-)Vorher muss der Piezo-Tonabnehmer noch im Steg eingelassen werden (was, falls Loch noch nicht vorhanden, relativ einfach vonstatten geht) und eine passende Stelle für den Battieriebeutel gesucht werden, der ebenfalls im Body angebracht wird.dafür gäbe es eigentlich einen Stern Abzug.Da ich hier aber nur den Klang bewerte, bleibt es bei für Sternen.Der kleine Beutel für den 9V-Block ist mit einem Klettstreifen versehen.Das Gegenstück, ebenfalls ein Klettstreifen, wird lt. Interneteinbauanleitung in Halsnähe angeklebt.Einmal dran, kann man die Saiten stimmen und hätte theoretisch erst mal Ruhe.Allerdings ist diese Lösung sehr klapprig und nicht das Gelbe vom Ei.Zum Batteriewechsel müssten die Saiten weit runtergestimmt oder ganz entfernt werden.Ist mir zu müßig.Da ich bereits einen Piezo verbaut hatte, habe ich das vorhandene Batteriefach genutzt und umgelötet.Wer diese Möglichkeit nicht hat und deswegen die Kabel im Schallloch sieht, weil sie davor rumbaumeln: es werden zwei Halterungen mitgeliefert, aus weichem, dicken Metall, die von innen an die obere Zarge geklebt werden.Diese sind zum umbiegen da - darin werden die Kabel befestigt.Das mit Abstand wichtigste Kriterium: der Klang.Und dieser ist bahnbrechend!Im Werkszustand ausgeliefert steht der Blend-Regler (der zwischen Piezo und Mikrofon sanft überlendet) in der mittleren Stellung, also 50/50.Der erste Anschlag mit neutraler Verstärlereinstellung lässt einen schon hellhörig werden.Wahrsinn!Für live habe ich noch eine  L.R. Baggs PARADI Para Acoustic DI-Box mit 5-Band EQ  zwischen Gitarre und Amp/P.A. geschaltet und damit geht dann erst Recht die Sonne auf (vorausgesetzt, man hat seine Rückkopplung im Griff).Ich hätte es nicht für möglich gehalten, aber das ist für mich aktuell die Lösung schlechthin.Allein der Stegpiezo ist schon eine Nummer für sich und klingt um Welten besser als jedes billig verbaute Teil. Das sollte natürlich auch Vorraussetzung sein, bei dem Preis.Der allerdings zahlt sich aus.Ich werde mir diesen Tonabnehmer noch mindestens ein-, wenn nicht sogar zweimal zulegen, um meine anderen Bühnen-Gitarren damit aufzurüsten und vor allem tontechnisch aufzuwerten.Absolute Empfehlung von mir!(Fragen zum Einbau beantworte ich gerne hier unter der Rezension.) The Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend is a very nice and easy to install preamp with a condenser microphone. I didnt install the undersaddle pickup cause I've never liked the piezo sound, but the condenser microphone sounds pretty good. The mic is easy to adjust and it took less than a minute to find a good sound.I think the Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend will work well both on stage and in the studio.
