Perfect for pour-over coffee
For the price, this is an impressive bit of kit. It boils very quickly - much faster than the stove-top version I have - and being able to set the temperature is a real bonus if you are using it for coffee, tea etc. The spout is perfect for delivering a well controlled stream of hot water....just what is needed for my coffee pour overs. Other reviewers complain about the 'beeps' and I can understand that it could be irritating. However, once you understand the sequence..... it makes it very easy to use; especially when half awake in the morning. On the negative side......... The actual 'boil temperature' is always a few degrees higher than set and having to set the temperature every time its used is a real pain. The keep warm function is very useful but needs lots of buttom presses to activate it and reactivate after lifting from the base and returning. As the base provides the power..... the temperature indication and all settings are lost as soon as the kettle is lifted.Yes there are negatives BUT...... look up the price of the cheapest temperature controlled kettle that addresses all of these issues and you will realise that the Dr Hetzner is excellent value.Durability is difficult to assess; all 'gooseneck' kettles have a vulnerable spout and need care when handling (hence only 4 stars) but this kettle seems very robust with its all metal body and I expect it to give years of service.Overall......... a very good kettle for making hot drinks such as pour over coffee and great value for money.

Overall just decent, but unbeatable for the price
Bought this for my own personal coffee shop and used it for many pour overs over the weekend.Temperature control: Seemed to work fine, I corroborated it with my digital thermometer, I managed to get a steady 96 degrees every time.Spout: Spouts can be a personal thing, i haven't got huge experience with lots of goose neck kettles, but I've used a few and couldn't see anything wrong with this one.Boil Time: About what you'd expect, nothing radically fast or slowKeep warm feature: Seemed fine ,though it turns off as soon as you remove the kettle from the base, so you have to reset itBuild: Seems fine but nothing particularly confidence inspiring. A bit of the lid which protects your hand from the metal surface when you hold the plastic handle has snapped. I'll try and fix this at some point with Sugru or similar. The lid is also a bit of a tight/awkward fit. It's not exactly precision engineered but it worksOverall this kettle is extremely cheap for what it is. The next cheapest digital temperature controlled kettle with gooseneck is about a hundred pounds, which is too much for most home baristas. If this lasts me for a year I'll be very happy and I don't see why it wouldn't

Ease of use
Lid is difficult to remove.Fiddly controls - not clear how to set tempApart from that seems well made, sturdy appliance, fast heating.

No more soggy legs!
I was sad to wave bye-bye to my old kettle, with it's cool blue glow when cold, changing to spicy red when it boiled. But it had developed a disturbing habit of sending half the water in the cup and the other half straight off it's bottom and down my unsuspecting leg (until I got wise and adopted a weird, twerky stance, to avoid the boiling tsunami). Eventually, fed up with depleting the rain forest forest with excessive use of kitchen roll, I decided it was time hunt for a new kettle. For some reason, my brain decided that the lower the spout, the less likely it was to spill and, thus, my hunt began. After much internetting and the purchase of many unrelated items, I finally crossed paths with 'The Gooseneck Kettle'."That looks a bit funky", I said to myself "but, hey, it's only thirty quid so no great loss if it's rubbish" I placed my order and waited for the Postman.I'm sure my postman doesn't really care about the content of my packages, but I tend to get excited by parcels and eagerly greeted him at the door, declaring "Yay, my weird kettle! I can have coffee now!" I think this may be why my parcels are just abandoned by the door..........Anyway, I shredded the packaging in double quick time and, being a girl, read the instructions and rinsed it and boiled it twice. The excitement mounted as I pushed the button once, and it told the current water temperature. Then I pushed it a second time, to commence the boil (at this point you can also select the temperature you wish it to boil to - no more scalded tongue for me!). It came to a gracefull boil, without excess steam, spluttering and turning the kitchen into a Turkish Bath.At last, the moment came and I tipped that shiny baby and watched that perfect arc of hot water shimmer as I missed the cup and splatted the counter. NO! Just kidding!! It poured perfectly and without and drips or dribbles. As I doused my husband's tea bag, I could instantly see that this more concentrated stream of water coaxed much more flavour from the bag than five minutes squeezing with a teaspoon. In fact, it is perfectly possible to get two mugs of tea from one decent tea bag, so this kettle will save you money.I'm sure that, one day, I will leave the bread too close and end up scarring it's stainless steel beauty with a melted Hovis bag but, for now, 'The Doc' (as we call it) sits in glory and my ankles are no longer damp.

Great kettle, good value for money.
Lovely looking kettle; easy to use. Much quicker than my previous kettle and the swan neck helps make a lovely brew with it’s design. The addtional feature to choose temperature and keep warm for a period of time is great and it has an auto-shutoff for safety.

Great kettle at a great price!
I was hesitant about this kettle due to the low price in comparison to similar products but was so pleased I bought it. The digital temperature sensor is great, it's not too big or heavy when full and the spout makes it amazing for tea! The difference is amazing, you won't need a teaspoon to squish a tea bag any more :)The only downside is we sometimes pre-boil water for cooking in a pan, it takes a little longer to poor with the narrow spout but not a massive deal.I read some comments about the on/off controls being confusing, I didn't find this at all. Very simple to use and a very happy customer!
