A fast paced, highly addicting, adrenaline rush of a read
An action packed, riveting read. RENEGADES is not your classic super heroes vs villains story. In true Marissa Meyer fashion, she delivers a thrilling read that will make you question who the real villains are and what makes a real super hero. She blurs the lines flawlessly between villains and superheroes, making it hard to choose between the two. This is no cookie cutter super heroes vs villains story. It's a fantastic, highly addicting story that will leave you wanting more!Told from both Nova and Adrian's points of views really added depth and a much needed different perspective for this story. It was incredibly easy to tell when the point of views in the story telling changed. Honestly, I don't think this story would have been as good if it had been told any other way. The dual story telling not only allows readers to get to know both characters better, you get to see more of societies within both the Renegades side, and the Anarchists. It's fascinating to see how they're both governed, and who makes up the heroes and villains in this story.Nova and Adrian were incredibly easy for me to like. I felt like I understood both of them. From the choices they made, to Nova's want for vengeance, and Adrian's want for justice. The more I got to know them, the more I realized they're not that different. They both have a lot at stake though. I understood their reasons for being on the opposites of the law. It wasn't hard for me love these two characters despite all they have working against them. I definitely felt like their story is a mix of Romeo & Juliet, meets your favorite superheroes story, meets something entirely knew, and given the perfect Marissa Meyer twist. The characters in Renegades are AWESOME! They were more than just villains and super heroes. They are characters who became larger than their own stories. It was incredibly easy to understand their motives, their choices, their feelings, and understand who they were, and who they became by the end of the story. I absolutely loved getting to know each of the characters in this book. Though in true Marissa Meyer fashion, there's so much more to come with these characters. I have a feeling there's a lot more shocking secrets and twists that will be revealed as this series continues. The setting is awesome! I absolutely loved the Renegade world, because it's complex. It's a world that is full of conflict, fighting, danger, and yet full of hope. It's a world that makes you question a lot of things that happen. Similar to it's plot line, is complicated, twisted, and full of surprises. Trust me, this world is a character all it's own, and adds so much to this story. I loved the action, the electrifying character chemistry, and the unlikely friendships at the heart of this story. This book full of incredible characters, shocking twists, fantastic world building, and includes entertaining story telling. One of my favorite reads of this year, RENEGADES is a fast paced, highly addicting, adrenaline rush of a read. Don't let the page count fool you. With all that happens in this story, you'll find you won't be able to put this book down once you start reading.

AMAZING story!
What an amazing start to a story! Wowza! My 15yo recommended her Cinder series, which I devoured. Months later, she told me about this one. I just plain bought the series and started reading (she's a book ahead of me). THAT'S how good this author is.This author knows how to write characters who are forced to grow. That is the essence of a truly good story. The fight between good and evil isn't black and white, a hard lesson required for growing up. The plot is riveting because it's character driven--everything that happens is because of a decision the primary characters make or don't make--and because the author has created a unique dystopia as the setting. Even the title reveals what's wrong with this society. She's given her readers the trifecta of a gripping, memorable story.Do I need to read books before this one: noWould I read more of the series: YES!Cliffhanger: yes; so beware, libraries can't keep this on the shelf or e-shelfPOSSIBLE TRIGGERSSex: noneLanguage: 0 F words, 0 Lord's name in vain, 0 S wordsViolence: bombs, fire, explosions, police brutality, gun fights, murders, betrayal, knife cutsFAVORITE QUOTE(S)It became the strong against the weak, and, as it turns out, the strong were usually jerks. Humanity loses faith in times like that. With no one to look up to, no one to believe in, we all became rats scrounging in the sewers. Maybe Ace really was a villain. Or maybe he was a visionary. Maybe there’s not much of a difference. What the people needed was to learn to take care of themselves, but that would never happen so long as superheroes were running things.Did they really think that extra limbs made you a hero? Or being able to shoot fireworks from your hands? Or even having a layer of chromium beneath your skin? Heroism wasn’t about what you could do, it was about what you did.“There’s no rule that says you have to be a prodigy to be a hero,” she insisted. “If people wanted to stand up for themselves or protect their loved ones or do what they believe in their hearts is the *right* thing to do, then they would do it. If they wanted to be heroic, they would find ways to be heroic, even without supernatural powers.”CRITIQUE (spoilers)What happened to the velociraptor? Is it roaming the building, biting toes and stealing snacks? With so many prodigies, and less than 30% born that way, how is it possible they were treated as outcasts, etc, before Ace? What would've happened to Oscar or Ruby 50 years ago?

My absolute favorite trilogy i really recommend you read it. There's a twist at every corner, and the way you get to read two sides of the story of the good and bad guys is just amazing.

Brilliant plot line and writing
This book was nothing short of fantastic, it made me think while also making me feel. It poses many interesting philosophical questions about morality but also if that’s not what you’re looking for it also keep you wonderfully entertained with its witty jokes and interactions between characters.
