Zoey and Sassafras Books 1-6 Pack

This is my daughter's first set of chapter books and she loves them! It makes her feel like a big girl, and she loves to announce to the household when she's finished a chapter. It offers great discussion of what she anticipates will happen next. This series teaches kids how to investigate, gather clues, and problem solve (critical thinking skills) through the use of magical creatures. The icing on the cake is that the quirky, curly haired, curious and adventurous main character mirrors her. You wouldn't believe how hard is to find something representative, exciting, and on reading level in mainstream book stores. I think this is excellent for all young children.

This is a great series that keeps my daughter’s first grade brain excited to hear about the magical creatures and exposes her to the scientific method, which I love.

These books are excellent! Cute whimsical illustrations, fun stories that get kids excited to read the next chapter! Fun even for the parents to read- no more suffering through terrible plots. ;) I love that the author "sneaks" in educational items too like the use of the scientific method and Petri dishes and hypothesis! So genius! I hope the author continues to write many more!

no dislikes love the kitty Sassafras and the girl and her mom and dad seem to be a nice family - I've read the first 2 books and already hooked! - but in book 1 it sets the stage with the magic animals -she and her mom share the ability to see magical animals but the dad doesn't though the mom told him about it - so it's something she and her mom are sharing, at least so far she conducts experiments to determine things. the pics are black and white and are cute andd there are actual ch apters with what I think are a lot of words along with a short glossary in the back. I'm in my 50s and enjoy the story so they're holding my interest

Excellent books, I got these based on the many great reviews and they did not disappoint. A good 2nd or 3rd grader reader could get through these on their own, I read them to my first grader. I have to admit I thought the print job seemed a little cheap at first but I quickly got past that. Perfect amount of pictures to keep her interested, love the positive/supportive relationship between her and her parents. I love the science knowledge that is woven in with the fun magical world. We’ve read 4 out of 5 now and they are all equally good. My daughter begs me to read extra each night but I torture her by telling her that that’s all until tomorrow night. It’s so refreshing to find a book where the kid isn’t rude, naughty or a sneaky liar but instead is responsible, enjoys life and is smart abs willing to take educational risks. Well done, please write more!

Very cute books! Easy chapters for upper elementary kids moving away from easy reader and into true readers

My kids love these! There are fun creatures, magic, problem solving, mistakes and fixes, moments of self doubt and building self confidence, kindness and caring, basically everything I want my kids reading about. We’re three books in and they can’t get enough. Definitely recommend!

My 5 year old loves Zoey and Sassafras! She attends a STEM school and it's really neat how science lessons/experiments are interwoven into the magical stories. We read and discuss a chapter or two each morning while waiting in the carline, which is a great stress reducer for both of us. 😉 Our kindergartener envisions herself in the stories. There was one part about carnivores (meat eaters) and omnivores (meat and vegetable eaters). We have to negotiate vegetables with our little one, and after reading that chapter, she has decided that she's a carnivore! 😀 She uses that argument to explain why she doesn't want to eat her veggies. Also, we love that the illustrations and storyline of this science series creates a different narrative about how a scientist may look.

These are so good! My grandkids love them so much, I bought them in audiobook form for long drives. The stories are fun, intelligent and unique. I bought the next 4 in the series as well!

My daughter and I both love the Zoey and Sassafras series. The stories are lovely and present basic scientific concepts in an accessible, fun way, with a touch of mystery and a whole lot of monsters thrown in for good measure. And of course there's the strong, curious, all-around-awesome female protagonist! These are fantastic stories to read together, and since they're chapter books, early readers (LO is 5) can just pick them up and read at their own pace time. We're definitely hoping for more.

My daughter really enjoyed reading these books. Well written and easy to read for a 9 year old.

I love this series. I read them to my boys and love the female lead and fun engagement in the scientific method.
