My Highland Spy
My Highland Spy by Victoria Roberts is an incredible story - not just a romance (although there is plenty of that), but also a spy adventure. Lady Ravenna Walsingham is more than what she seems at first. She's an accomplished spy in His Majesty's service. She's sent to spy on a highland laird that refuses to send his son to be educated by the English. This is horribly suspicious, and Ravenna is perfect to infiltrate his home in disguise as an English governess.Laird Ruairi Sutherland isn't out to harm the crown. He just wants his son raised in his own way and not sent away from him for the English to raise. Ruairi is a wonderful father, and I fell in love with him because of the care he took for his son.But we must have some conflict, and this is where things maybe fell a bit flat. I think it was too obvious from the beginning to Ravenna that Ruairi wasn't up to any shenanigans, but it took her a loooong time to come to that conclusion. The court intrigue just didn't seem to fit properly. The romance was great. These two make an amazing couple. Ravenna's strength and independence pair well with Ruairi's stubbornness and family devotion. There are several side characters that stole the show at times - one of which is a wolf-dog. But the people of the clan are enjoyable and you will grow attached.

DEFINATE MUST READ HIGHLANDER TREAT
First I must say Victoria Roberts is one of my favorite, keeper shelf authors. As well as any of her prior books, this new release did not let me down or disappoint in any way whatsoever! A fantastic first for a new series, and I am very glad the series will continue. After reading this first I wanted to immediately pick up the next one.The heroine is actually an independent, feisty English spy for the crown and must pose as a governess by orders of the king to determine if the laird of a particular clan is involved in activities against the crown. The hero is a highland laird who wants to hang onto and pass Scottish traditions down through generations. After all, they are Scottish Highlanders, why do they need to know English cultures. The heroine also has three younger sisters, of which one is as feisty as the heroine. The laird is a widower with a young son and cares deeply for his clan and the people he is responsible for.Mystery, sexy passionate romance, laughter, tears, drama, and action make this book a one sit read. Not actually knowing what exactly to expect but being very surprised when actually meeting the laird, imagine what the heroine might say in response to being very attracted to him, if she thinks the laird can’t speak and doesn’t understand the English language. And the Laird is so surprised by her actual appearance he is speechless when he sets eyes on her, which is why she believes he doesn’t understand anything she says. Oh my goodness! You find yourself talking to them both trying to guide them on the right track. There are also other twists and turns and unexpected actions throughout the book. The relationship that grows between the heroine and her student, the laird’s son, is heartwarming and filled with humor and will pull at your heart. Other secondary characters, such as the heroine’s sister and the laird’s close friends he has known all his life and considers as brothers, also keep the story rolling and the reader can’t help but hope they get to read their story as well.Once you begin reading you are captured and do not want to put the book down as there is a pull to keep reading through to the last page. I can’t say enough about the book. This is one I will pick up to reread again and again. I highly recommend anything Victoria Roberts has written. She will be put on my auto-buy list of authors.

My Highland Spy (Highland spies Book 1)
I love Victoria Roberts' sense of humor. Her stories always have me smiling and giggling at some point in her books as well as getting so enthralled in the storyline, I simply lose all track of time. This love story is full of humor, sweetness, relatable characters, and just a really good story from beginning to end. The ending was what I hoped for, but I still wanted more of the story. But, alas, I must wait until May 2015 to read the second book in this series. Even though I must wait, it was well worth the read and I highly recommend this book to all lovers of historical romance novels. 😍The main characters, Ravenna and Ruairi, are as different as night and day, and yet they come together almost immediately. With Ruairi you know it's immediate where as Ravenna is more hesitant due to her job as a spy for the Crown, King James of England. This is where the story gets tricky...she has to spy on Ruairi. The other characters in the book are all worthy of a mention, however it would take too long with the exception of one. Angus. He stole the show on several ocassions, lol. Just wait until you meet Angus....☺️With all that said, please read and enjoy! Cheers! 🍻

I didn't enjoy this book at all
I didn't enjoy this book at all! It was just shallow and cheap! The male character was quite pathetic and the used of Gaelic was in most places not appropriate and it was just there because the author probably wanted to underline that the characters are Scottish... It wasn't incorporated well into the story.
