A great way to start discussions about God with your kids
The “What is God Like?” children’s book series by William Lane Craig is a great resource for Christian parents. These books teach the attributes of God (e.g. love, goodness, power, etc.) in a way that even young children can begin to understand. The characters of the stories are a family of four: Papa (Bear), Mama (Goose), John (Bear), and Charity (Goose). Each story begins with the children coming to their parents with a question about God. The parents go straight to the Bible to answer their question. For example, in the first book the children ask their papa, “What is God Like?” As in the other books, Papa responds by saying, “Let’s see what the Bible says,” and then he reads John 4:24, “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth”. Papa explains that this passage means God is like a person without a body. Therefore, God is not subject to the same limitations that we have. He doesn’t get sick or tired. My two year-old-daughter loves these books. When we first got them, she wanted to read them over and over again. I think that she especially likes the pictures, and even though the concepts discussed are very deep, she can relate to the natural back and forth between the parents and children. These books have been a great way to start discussions about Biblical concepts with our daughter. There are ten books in the series: 1. God is Spirit 2. God Is Everywhere 3. God Is Forever 4. God Is Self-Sufficient 5. God Is All-Knowing 6. God Is All-Powerful 7. God Is All-Good 8. God Is All-Loving 9. God Is Three Persons 10. The Greatness of GodI strongly encourage you to give the “What is God Like?” series a try. This series would be great for kids between the ages of 2 and 6, and at about $5 a piece these books are a steal.

tricky topic, unusual family, good break down
This could be a tricky and challenging question, but fairly central to the Christian faith. With the help of Papa Brown Bear and Mama Red Goose, Dr. Craig breaks it down to help parents explain. When Cub John and Gosling Charity ask the question, the family comes together and looks to the Bible first. Papa also explains the difference between body and spirit.I gave it 4 stars as some may have difficulty with a brown bear and a red goose being father and mother to a bear cub and a red gosling. But I think the age group this targets will have no problem with it. Also, the break down of the info is excellent even if someone thinks the character choice is strange.I bought this book and this is my honest and unbiased review.

Great contents, story, explanation, but worst illustration.
Absolutely love love the story. Great explanation for kids. HOWEVER my husband and I can not stand illustration. We had to talk about unnecessary confusion about bear and goose couple long time and each time we start new book. Could you please make different illustration version? I would get the series again. I wish I can give star separately for story and illustration.

Illustrations not thought out
Great message, though a little more simplistic than I think is even necessary for that age.The main reason for the two stars is that my husband and I can get past the illustrations. The bear is married to a goose and they have a bear and a gosling for children. It seems like a strange intermixing. The illustrations don't seem like a high quality. We were planning on getting the whole series but don't know that we will now. This may not be an issue for most, but the book even had to explain the relationship on the inner cover before the story began. If you need to explain something like "this is a marriage and family" in a Christian book, it's probably not well thought out illustrating. In some cases, simple is better...

My daughter has the privilege of learning systematic theology at the age of 4! To be intellectually stimulated in your walk with Christ is essential , and Dr. Craig's work is as always very stimulating and thankfully simple in such a way my daughter can comprehend and even articulate in her own words! Dr. Craig, I am forever indebted by your labor in Christ as I'm also studying systematic theology through his podcast on reasonable faith, and simultaneously able to teach my daughter through your children's books.

Excellent
My husband and I love Dr. Craig's work and these books are already a treasure to us as we anticipate the birth of our little one. What an excellent way to introduce some of the most important concepts our son will ever think about. I love that the books start with a Bible verse and thus each theme is clearly biblically based. I also love that the parent gets something out of each of these as they read too!! Fabulous work, Dr. Craig. Thank you for all you do on the front lines of the Kingdom.

I'm always glad to see a good Christian book for children
I'm always glad to see a good Christian book for children. However, this is not one that will hold children's attention. It's too much information on each page that is too long and too large a concept for children to grasp. Make it simpler, especially with these concepts, and it could be better...even for adults.

Great
Wow, i got these for my 7 yr old sister, shes really interested in God and the Church and thus i decided to get these for her. Firstly she can read these and understands what is being said in them, secondly my Mother also enjoy reading them to her as she gets to interact with these concepts and increase her understanding and philosophical underpinnings of God.this is a must buy.

God is Spirit
The text is great, deep but accessible. My six-year old got on with it just fine. The ilustrations are nice, but hardly cutting edge. I'd prefer a bumper volume of all the titles, rather than buying them piece-meal. But as theological material for kids is hardly in abundance, its a really useful resource. We should have good answers to our spawn's awkward questions; (Such as 'why is that goose red?') & Bill helps Mum & Dad out (Apart from the geese issue)

Great Book For Kids!
Would recommend. Well illustrated with bright colourful pictures. The content is clear and simple enough for children to understand but still though provoking and fun to read.

This book kind of tap dances around the subject. It did not work in terms of explaining the concept of the Triune God...
