Think & Trade Like a Champion: The Secrets, Rules & Blunt Truths of a Stock Market Wizard

I first started taking control of my own finances sometime around 15 years ago, and like many others I suspect, I made many many mistakes. I read as much as I could, and whilst there was lots of good stuff out there that taught me loads about company accounts, BS, P&L and Cash Flow statements, and gave copious amounts of advice on the plethora of ratios that you can use to analyse specific stocks as well as charting, after years of reading although I was somewhat wiser and periodically successful, I still lacked a plan and an approach by which I could make any success I achieved stick. After ten years, I even got to the stage where I was on the point of capitulation, after a particularly unsuccessful period. It all seemed more effort than it was worth, and the input was far exceeding the output. Anyway, after some support from my wife, and investing in various materials by Tony Robbins to get my motivational self back on track, I became aware of the books on trading / investment written by Mark Minervini. The teachings of Tony Robbins had stressed the importance of establishing mentors in your life and who better in the world of investment than the guy who had achieved annual returns way beyond the dreams of most people. So, I bought '....Stock Market Wizard' and shortly thereafter followed up with '....Like a Champion'. To this day, 'Wizard' resides on my bedside, and 'Champion' (Kindle edition), is on my laptop, never far from reach. I repeatedly refer to the content, and re-read various chapters on multiple occasions, whenever I feel that I need some more direction or support. What I particularly like about the books is that they are not prescriptive about following any particular approach or using specific techniques, but they encourage that you develop your own style, whilst also giving expert guidance on the strategies that Mark himself pursued to achieve excellent returns. Anyway, all I can say is that since embracing some of the strategies Mark shares, losses in any 12 month period have become a thing of the past, and whilst that doesn't necessarily translate into spectacular gains anything close to those achieved by Mark, what it does translate into is a performance beyond anything that I previously achieved and a confidence that I am now doing something right and doing it consistently. Whilst Mark's books are not intended, as I see it, for those new to the art of trading and investments, if there is one set of books you need on your bookshelf and which will guide you to consistently making money in the markets, it is these.

Probably the best investment I’ve ever made. Mark provides the perfect blueprint for how to make life changing profits by share trading. Easy to read the book provides a level of knowledge that allows the reader to trade confidently in the market with strong emphasis on managing risk and hence preserving capital. Absolutely essential reading for newcomers and experienced stock traders.

This is the second of mark Minervinis books that I have read and his books are gold dust. I will be reading this book several more times. Every page I am learning something. Predominantly about the correct entry points and risk management. I cannot recommend his books highly enough. I consider him, Investors Business Day and William O'Neil to be the premier investment book gurus.

In my humble opinion this book is the diamond on the crown for all books Mark has written. As in this book he speaks purely about psychological and risk management side of trading , which is the most important thing in trading. What impressed me the most was the “bomb” of motivation which Mark hits you with at the beginning of the book . It’s just overall review which doesn’t really gives enough props for this excellent book, the best thing to do just buy it, read it and enjoy it .

Do not even think of buying this book unless you have first read Mr Minervini's first book - Like a Stock Market Wizard. That book is excellent: see my review on it dated 23/02/2018. This book (Champion) has some useful additional material. If you are one of the very few people who has the time, discipline, commitment and will to try Mr Minervini's methods, then definitely by this book. However, be aware that well over half the content is repetition of the first book. Mr Minervini's publisher should have published an updated edition of the Wizard book with the additional material added.

Fantastic addition to “Volume 1” with key points reiterated and new concepts introduced. An absolute must-read for the trader who wants to learn more and further develop their trading practice.

This is amazing book. I learn a lot during day to day trading with the guideline from this book. This book is NOT teach you how to become a quick rich, however it teach you the process & the strategies you can use to become a better trader. Mark given practical approach in this book. Many Thanks to Mark share his long experience into this book.

This book is a must read for anyone who has ever dreamed of becoming a professional trader. Mark is one of the famed “Market Wizards” who has achieved consistent and outstanding performance in the stock market over many decades. He has been there and done it. Breaking the magician’s code, Mark reveals how he did it. The book explains the fine points of his methodology, trading plan, money management techniques and thought process like no other stock market book I have read. Let’s face it, few if any top professional traders ever reveal their entire methodology in a book and none in such fine detail. His market mastery is truly displayed in this one. The book is full of in-depth knowledge, motivating and powerful anecdotes and refreshingly blatant straight forward advice on trading. It is written in an easy to read conversational style which make you feel like Mark is sitting next to you, teaching, coaching, and motivating you through the book. The book is clearly for the reader who truly wants to succeed in trading. Although much of the book can apply to any trading style, I would recommend reading Mark’s first book before reading this one. Having been a professional trader for many years and read countless books on the market, I have no doubt Marks’ books are sure to be alongside the other great trading classics which have stood the test of time.
