Ernst Haeckel: Art Forms in Nature Coloring Book

Very pleased with this used copy of Ernst Haeckels Art Forms coloring book. The outside cover has a slight ding in it, but inside is perfect. good savings! Shipped carefully.

This is an incredible book. It is hardback with a glossy cover and 50 single-sided images on thick white paper. The images are taken from biologist Ernst Haeckel's work. They include cleaned up images of such things as radiolarians, shells, and jellyfish. There is also a page that indexes what each page contains. What isn't included are the higher life forms like birds and reptiles for example. The images are standard black and white, greyscale, or black backgrounds with gray scale images. The book is gorgeous, but a bit pricey. I may also get the one by Ernst Haeckel (Author) and David Abbey (Designer) called "Designs in Nature: the coloring book" Paperback – January 25, 2016. It is much cheaper and contains all 100 images. However, they are not cleaned up versions of the original plates like this book. I am torn as to which (or both) book(s) that I want for my collection. I may end up getting/keeping both.

These pictures were so beautiful I almost didn't want to touch them with pencils,-they seemed perfect as-is.

This is a beautiful grey scale coloring book! Almost too beautiful to color in! I highly recommend for the avid coloring aficionado! ;-)

Love this coloring book

I purchased three books from different publishers (Pomegranate; Dover Publications; Prestel) and compared them. I can't recommend this edition, because some pictures are too bright and many details are lost. I attached a picture, this book is on the left side. Dover Publications version has blurry images, the Prestel's edition is the best.

I am pleased to be colouring in this book. It is hardcover, sturdily bound as care has been taken in production. The black line plates are excellent reproductions of Ernst Haeckel’s drawings. Detailed and challenging, the unusual drawings are a pleasure to look at and colour. A wonderful treasure to occupy the mind and hand of any colourist. Satisfaction indeed!
