W11158802 Whirlpool Appliance Dishwasher Silverware Basket (2018 Upgraded Model, Replaces 8535075)

Our Whirlpool dishwasher is nearly 30 yrs old and the silverware basket started to fail more and more. The clasp to secure the flap often failed allowing silverware to tumble out. Often this occurred when carrying them from the dishwasher to the silverware drawer or counter.Although this is pricey, I have seen them listed for last double the Amazon price. And the clasp to secure the flap is greatly improved. Technology and innovation come with a price. This time it is with the price.

This is different from the S. basket that came with the dishwasher, but shares the same model number. The tabs on the side of the S. basket are in a location that will not fit onto the clips on the main bottom tray of the dishwasher. The replacement S. basket did not come with new clips to attach it to the bottom tray of the dishwasher. It is better version of the S. basket, but if I cant attach it to the front of the dishwasher tray, it takes up space sitting inside of the dishwasher.

In my house the silverware tray fills up long before the dishes do. I bought this as a second silverware holder and it works perfect. No more crowding of the silverware.
