The Tenth Anniversary Edition of A Treasury of Jewish Holiday Baking

There are so many excellent recipes in this book, but the one she's most known for is her honey cake. I made it a few days ago and it still tastes as fresh as day one - better, actually, as the flavors have mellowed. This one recipe is worth the price of the book, but if you love baking, you will find the entire book full of recipes you'll want to try. I'm not Jewish, myself, but I've long admired Jewish baking. I love challah for french toast, rugelach, bagels, and so many other scrumptious breads and pastries. I finally decided to buy this book after having it on my wish list for a long, long time. It is truly a treasury of recipes.

If you don't won the copy of this book, please, order. I highly recommend such good baking book. I'm a baker and love experimenting with different ingredients. I started with Honey cake. First of all, I have to say, that I came from the part of the world, where honey cake is a traditional, almost every day, food. We love honey and use a lot. The recipe is the excellent, easy to follow and absolutely delicious. I love it and will use over and over again. Next try is Montreal bagels. Please, order such good book, you will be happy with every recipe you will try.

Yummmmmm! You will Love reading this as well as using the recipe's. Marcy is as great a writer as she is a baker! You can't go wrong with anything written by this gal. I was a fan from her early days when she had 1 book out & a great blog with a subscription recipe service. Everything I tried I loved. he directions & recipes are well tested.

I bought this as a gift for a young woman who is studying Hebrew to convert to the Jewish faith. She is very interested in Jewish cooking and I purchased this book to get her started for the holidays. She was surprised and delighted to get started.

This is a fantastic cookbook. I've been making this honey cake for years and when the line at our local bakery was more than an hour long this morning to get a holiday challah, I drove home and opened the book. This is the first challah I made since childhood, and the results were fantastic. I have to admit I was floored by the results; I've had one too many home made challahs that were dense and bland. In the age of endless internet recipes, it's nice to have some reliable favorite cookbooks where you don't have to read any reviews; this is that kind of a cookbook.

Someone referred me to this book for baking recipes. It's a great cookbook for bakers especially, whether or not they're Jewish. It also has some wonderful non-baking recipes -- the sweet and sour meatball recipe was fantastic. I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves to bake.

I bought this for myself, but it would also make a lovely present, especially with Passover coming up. Some of these recipes are available online, but many more are not.

Avoid kindle version!

I've tried at least 10 recipes in this cookbook - every single one is foolproof. The instructions are clear, measurements are accurate and the recipes are delicious. The sour cream chocolate cake is spectacular! The Chanukah Sugar Cookies have become a family tradition for my non Jewish household. Goldman also explains how to use a bread machine to make the dough for most of her yeast bread recipes: I now can make challah bread, Montreal style bagels and yeasty coffee cake at home with the aid of my bread machine. Perfect. I like the addition of the traditional Jewish recipes at the end of this newer edition: roast chicken, brisket, chicken noodle soup - this makes this baking cookbook an even more worthwhile purchase. The only alteration I have made to recipes is I've decreased the amount of sugar and for my own tastes, I find the baked good recipes work just as well, just less sweet. In addition to the fantastic recipes that work, Goldman writes very interesting description of Jewish holidays and traditions. I find the entire book a delight and probably one of the most worthwhile purchases I've made from Amazon.

This is not ready for Kindle. There is no table of contents and it is not searchable. It is also not readable on an iPhone. The book may be lovely, but if I can't read it on all devices and can’t find recipes it isn’t useful.

Delicious recipes along with warm stories of Jewish customs ... I would recommend this cook.

Excellent book! The sponge-starter Challah is the best and I have also tried other recipes which turned out great. I bought a second copy for my daughter-in-law.
