It functions okay as far as the actual frying goes. There are just a lot of things I donโt like about this product when compared with others in this crowded market: * Controls are difficult to understand without reading the manual. Theyโre not what I would consider to be intuitive. * Takes up a lot of counter space for itโs relatively small capacity. At 4.2 quart capacity, it has only 73% of the capacity of the 5.8 quart fryer I have (from Cosori), but takes up the same counter space. * Materials feel cheap and plasticky, and the high-gloss finish is easily marred and scratched. * The included instructions are minimal, bare-bones stuff. Not much use, other than to familiarize the user with the controls. There was no recipe book or guide for frying certain types of foods. Other air fryers I have purchased or used included recipe booklets, as well as tips and guidelines for cooking different kinds of common foods. The Cosori fryer Iโm using now, for example, came with a great little recipe book, with high-quality photos and well-written recipes. Overall this just feels like a cheap knockoff of a quality air fryer. There are many better options out there for the price. Review: Air frying is great, but this fryer is really hard to clean - Update, December 13, 2018: I'm afraid I have to knock a couple stars off my review. Food is sticking to this machine more and more. It was super easy to clean in the beginning, but is becoming a major chore. Everything I cook sticks, even if it's coated in oil, so that the bottom plate has to be soaked after each and every use. And throwing the bottom plate in the dishwasher has horrible results. It simply doesn't work. Also, after using this machine extensively (for almost every meal), I think that I would opt for a non-round air fryer were I shopping for one. There really isn't that much space in this air fryer (I have the 4.2 quart one) because you really can't stack food very much and have it cook properly. With a round fryer, then, you're limiting the surface area you have to work with. For roughly the same size footprint on your counter, you can increase your surface area just by having a square basket to work with. Update, December 8, 2018: I'm still sold on this air fryer. I've been cooking with it every day--often several times per day--since originally writing this review. It's become my go-to appliance. That said, I wrote below that the fryer basket is easy to clean. It's becoming less easy. I'm not sure if it's just losing some of its non-stickiness, but it's become something of a chore. At least, it's a chore to clean the removable perforated plate on the bottom of the basket. I kind of wish the basket were designed differently, in a way that would be easier to clean. I've also taken to spraying the basket with oil to help keep food from sticking while cooking, but it still sticks here and there. Still life-changing, and still worthy of five stars I'd say. --- I've had this air fryer for a few days now. Only a few days, but it's already seen a lot of use. So far I've cooked chicken thighs, chicken wings, steak, mozzarella sticks, and french fries in it, plus a variety of vegetables: eggplant, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes. And I dried some spinach leaves. There are really two things to review here, air frying itself and this particular air fryer. As for air frying, I am completely sold. This is my first time using an air fryer, and it's just, well, honestly life changing. You can throw some chicken and a wad of vegetables in the thing and with little intervention on your part (you may want to turn the chicken and toss the veggies), you have an easy and nutritious meal. Because it's so easy to throw vegetables in it, you'll probably find yourself eating more of them. I certainly have been. Apart from vegetables, this machine did a great job on the french fries and mozzarella sticks. They came out more consistently crispy than when I make them in the toaster oven. And chicken also worked very well. The chicken thighs I cooked came out crispy on the outside but not overcooked inside. Most importantly, the wings I cooked were great! Buffalo wings are a big deal in my family. Wings are our go-to celebratory food. The problem is, they're a hassle to make the traditional way. I'm never thrilled about having a vat of boiling oil on the stove, and the house winds up smelling from it for a good day. Plus, cleaning the pot is a chore. The oil costs money, and you don't feel great about deep frying. I cooked up a quick batch of 12 wings in the air fryer, and no mess! No smell! And they were perfectly crispy. (I think I did 30 minutes at 400 degrees, but a larger batch would presumably require more time.) As for this machine in particular, I've never used any other brand of air fryer, so I don't have anything to compare it to. But I'm satisfied with its operation. The controls are elegant and extremely easy to operate, and the fryer basket is easy to clean. Any complaints I have are minor: - Small pieces of food tend to fall in the crevice in the center of the fry pan and can be hard to extract. - There are some pictures of food on the top of the machine with suggested times for cooking them, but it's hard to make out what some of those pictures are. I'd like a more informative quick guide on the fryer. - I can see myself wanting a two-tiered rack to make it easier to fry up multiple layers of foods (looking at you, eggplant), but the directions don't provide any advice about what to use for that. Like I said, minor. I don't know about other air fryers. I suppose it's possible they run circles around the Posame, but I'm not sure how they could. I'm very happy with this thing, happy enough that I've carved out space on my counter for it to sit there permanently. This machine isn't going to be stored away for occasional use.

Actually a pretty great way to cook
I was pretty skeptical of this thing. The product description's English is quite broken, and I've never heard of the brand. But it looked more or less like the air fryers at my grocery store, and I had wanted to play with something like this for a while. The concept is simple enough. If you look inside, with the basket removed, there's an electric burner at the top, very similar to what a cheap stove would have. A powerful fan blows air through the unit, from the burner down through the food. Very hot air is just plain forced through the food. It's like how hot oil works, without the oil. But it actually does work a lot better when there is some oil involved to help get the heat around even better. Things that naturally have fat, like chicken wings, or frozen fried food, work beautifully in this machine. They actually come out better than actually frying them in oil. My typical way of cooking in this air fryer is to put one layer of chicken or something on the bottom, run it until it's crispy, and then putting some kind of spice on top, right on my plate. The textures are generally quite pleasing for anything breaded. You definitely can cook other things in here, even veggies, but I definitely add a little oil (butter, olive oil, whatever). The results are way better. Other unusual things I've made include bacon, sausage, and yogurt. Just kidding about the yogurt. Cleaning this thing is either super easy or super annoying. Just depends on how quickly you do it. Clean this while it's still warm (not hot), with a brush, and use plenty of warm soapy water, and it's not bad. Burn your food, or leave it on here, and it's a huge pain. I have a pretty nice dishwasher, and it is able to clean this without damaging it, but I think the hand wash method works great so long as you're on the ball. Is this healthier than frying food? I think absolutely. You're definitely avoiding a lot of calories here. And if you're a low carb dieter, you can make plenty of things that are pleasing and crispy just by air frying chicken. My only grip is that its capacity is fairly limited. Yeah, you could pile frozen french fries high, but it only works to an extent. The more exposed surface, the better, and a single layer always works the best. If you're cooking something really fatty (like sausage) that limitation isn't an issue anymore. With that limitation in mind, I can make a huge meal for myself with this.

I'm an Air-fry head now!
I love this thing. Easy to use. Easy to Clean. Cooks fast. Set up was non-existent. Just give the basket and drawer a quick clean, plug in, and go! Though I am pretty sensitive to the "New appliance" smell found in some toasters, my food dehydrator, and this. I think it's some of the excess oil from the manufacturing burning off, and I hate it, haha. But it goes away. I just ran it for a bit empty before my first fry. The basket has a good capacity. I cooked a large fresh pack of chicken wings the first time, and a bag of frozen french fries the second time. While both required me to open and stir a few times to rotate the food from the inside to the outside, neither proved to be a problem. Operation is super simple. When you insert the drawer the touch screen panel on the front lights up, allowing you to set time and temp, and to start/stop the device. Once started, you are off to the races, as no preheating is required. This is possibly the most time-saving aspect of this. Depending on the food, this may or may not be faster than an oven, but the lack of preheating saves a ton of time, at least. I like that while in use, if you remove the drawer, the cooking stops immediately, and it resumes immediately when you reinsert it. Cleaning is super easy as well. The inside of the machine just gets wiped out, but barely anything gets in there, I just noticed a little bit of grease. And the coating on the internal surfaces allows you to just wipe that out with a paper towel. As for the drawer and basket insert, they are apparently dishwasher safe, but I have opted to hand-wash, as I'm not entirely comfortable dish washing via machine, due to the aforementioned non-stick coating. The sink hose/sprayer is your friend here. While the surface is non-stick, and i haven't experienced otherwise, there are tons of nooks and crannies to blast out. Still, Super easy. I definitely recommend this appliance as a replacement to deep-fat frying, and as a faster alternative to certain roasting methods. It is easy to use, easy to clean, and kind of fun!

Worst Instruction Book I Have Ever Seen
The Posame 4.2 Quart Air Fryer is neat looking and seems to work well. But it has the worst instruction book I have ever seen. When the Air Fryer arrived, I unboxed it and found a two page instruction book. There are misspelled words, the printing is very light, and the images are small and all on the back page. As you read the instructions, you have to keep flipping back to the illustrations. Did I mention they are small? And it's difficult to see exactly what's going on. That said, after some work, I figured it out. The Posame Air Fryer is easy to use. You pull the drawer out, clean it and the tray inside. Once it is dry, you're set to go. I've made a few things and each has worked out well. You put the food on top of the try in the basket. You don't need to, but I added a tablespoon of oil. Put the tray back into the unit and the touchscreen menu pops up. Select the temperature and the timing and hit the start button. I did notice that the touchscreen menu pops up as soon as the drawer is placed in the machine, even when it isn't in there snug. So, this is a concern. And it does seem to have some wiggle room. You have to make sure the drawer is fitting snuggly before you use it. I cooked a batch of Trader Joe's Mandarin Orange Chicken in the Air Fryer. You have to occasionally open the drawer and toss everything around for even cooking. And it worked well. I have taken to deep frying the chicken in a skillet, which gets more expensive because of the oil used. This seems like an acceptable alternative. The taste is almost the same, and it will save money. It doesn't save time, it needs the same amount of time as an over would, which is more than deep frying. But it is healthier and tastes good. I made some French fries last night. Again, have been deep frying them as well. The fries were okay. I tossed them twice and the cook on the fries was less consistent. Some were crispy, some were simply cooked. I'll try it again, to see if more tossing will help. I'm going to keep using it, trying new options. But I think the instruction book and the loose-fitting drawer are big drawbacks to this unit.

love it
OK, this thing is awesome... I wanted to use it bit before reviewing... well built, easy controls, easy clean, great design, looks nice too... what I love... french fries!! spray a tad of oil on outside just to get that golden brown tastier! even without oil, they still are very tasty considering the 60% reduction in calories! as others mention, chicken wings, amazing... its the perfect food, as it has its own fat... chx breast, tenders... breaded..well, a bit blah without oil, as the white meat seems to need some oil to get that great taste...the cooker cooks it well, but flavor lacks... so I started to spray oil on my BBQ sauce I put on when applying, it helps.... impressed with all the dishes others are making, I am prob. too lazy to do more ;)

wow - WoW - WOW
If you succumb to temptation easily, you might not want to have this device in your home - because IT IS AWESOME! My family gave the air fryer a complete workout on the day it arrived. The packaging is excellent, the device is easy to understand how to use, though it took a while to figure out that the basket was a simple pullout that required a little muscle. The design is so sleek you expected there to be some kind of button, or release mechanism, but there isn't - just grab the handle and pull. We decided to forgo our healthy diet and really test this thing out. French fries, onion rings, small tacos, mozzarella sticks, and everything turned out so incredibly good! The idea that you can get this great a result without need of any oil or deep frying could set up in your mind a belief that you are doing something significantly healthier than usual. This would not be untrue, but it is also far from being the truth. So if you can control your eating habits, this tool is an awesome addition to your kitchen. It works really fast, in fact we had to pull the onion rings out ahead of the scheduled time because you could smell that they were done. And the results are incredible. No issues with this machine, in fact highly recommended, unless you have a discipline issue. The temptation to eat high starch foods will be in front of you all the time. You can have hot crispy fries in 16 minutes or less, it's going to be tempting to do just that with greater frequency, no one likes the work and clean up involved with deep frying anything, this removes almost all of that work as the basket itself is dishwasher safe. I have yet to try out the device on more protein and fat based foods. I am hoping to find uses for the fryer that is less carbohydrate oriented. I cannot emphasize strongly enough how fantastic this machine is, maybe a little too fantastic!

Easy to clean
Let's say I'm still trying to get the hang of this device. I've cooked a number of things in it, from veggies to meat and I'm not totally satisfied with the results. For example, I've done potatoes a number of times and even with the shaking step they are not uniformly cooked, some are nice and crisp on the outside, but others are cooked but lack the crispiness (tried a number of adjustments to get them right - extended cooking with extra shake steps, smaller batches, no shake stops, but no solution). Thankfully, cleanup is a snap, a little hot water and soap and voila, clean. I have friends that swear by these air fryers, so, I have to think there may be some issue with my technique. Ultimately, the device cooks things, but I'm not ultimately wowed by its results. P-)
