Author's Debut a Super Duper Royal Deluxe Treat for Young Readers
Author/illustrator Susan Nees' debut children's book introduces young readers to Missy, an energetic, creative dynamo who has her own ideas about everything, including the proper wardrobe for school picture day. The first chapter reveals Missy's full name, Melissa Abigail Rose, and readers meet her adorable cat, Pink. Chapter Two introduces Picture Day. Missy is extremely enthusiastic about picture day until Mom takes one look at her Super Duper Royal Deluxe outfit and decides to help her choose something else. In chapter three, readers meet Oscar, who looks rather super duper in his bow tie and plaid vest. In the remaining chapters, young readers will delight in learning more about Oscar and in seeing how Missy manages to make Picture Day Super Duper Royal Deluxe, despite her Mom's more conservative ideas about a young lady's proper wardrobe. This book is fun to read and I highly recommend it for young readers 5-7 and as a read-to for younger children. The illustrations are bright, colorful and totally enjoyable as they compliment the energetic thoughts and actions of Missy and bring this light, easy reader story to life. The book is filled with gentle, age-appropriate humor for young readers. Children will enjoy reading it themselves or having it read to them over and over. Missy fans also will enjoy the other books in the series. This book is a five-star super duper royal deluxe beginning for a very promising author/illustrator.

Great story for girlie girls!
A cute little story with which little girls will identify. Missy loves sparkles, color and ruffles, but Mother doesn't like the outfit she's chosen for picture day. All day at school Missy mopes and grumbles, but she finds she has a good friend in Oscar who swaps his plaid vest and bow tie for Missy's red suspenders. Picture day is saved! Great easy reader for beginning readers (1st and 2nd grade).

Missy will delight you !
Missy galloped into my life with her super duper royal deluxe imagination, grand plans, and indomitable energy. Her adventures on picture day are full of ups and downs and round and rounds. The author has captured the essence of the ego-centric child who learns lessons without loosing her spirit, while entertaining us with enchanting drawings and dialogue.I'm an adult, but love good children's books, and this is definitely one. I wish I'd had these books as a young girl myself. I've already read Missy's second adventure, Class Pets, and eagerly await more tales.Missy flies through her daily foibles with a stubborn simple wisdom. She's my new role model, along with her brilliant creator, Susan Nees.

Good for young readers that are ready for a challenge ...
Cute story! Good for young readers that are ready for a challenge and also appropriate for second or third graders that might need an easier book to read.

Great first chapter book!
This was the first chapter book that really interested my 6 year old daughter. It has colored pictures and a variety of text. She takes the book with her everywhere! She asked for the others in the series, and I am happy to get them for her!

Sold a used book
I bought this book as a new item and discovered a name already in it. Not very happy buying a book “new” and having it actually used.
