QuickBooks 2019 All-in-One For Dummies

This book and the the QB program suffer from a fatal flaw. Both are fairly competent attempts at taking the non-accountant and parachuting him or her into a going concern and providing a mechanism, i.e. the QB program, for keeping a set of books despite being one being completely unknowledgeable in double entry bookkeeping. However, if one is starting a business on day one before the first transaction takes place, and one needs to create the day one balance sheet that records the first CASH deposit and the matching EQUITY entry one is simply out of luck. Neither QB the program or QB the for Dummies addresses this necessary process in any comprehensible way.Starting a business on day one requires the VERY FIRST bookkeeping step of business creation: Capital Contribution, i.e., putting the first investment dollars into the business entity. This first bookkeeping step means that the first transaction of the business is to put an amount of CASH in the bank and record the equivalent amount of dollars as OWNER's EQUITY on the Balance sheet. This absolutely initial step in bookkeeping never happens in Quick Books World. Nor does is this step explained in any discernible way in in Quick Books for Dummies. I find this absolutely flabbergasting.Having said that, the QB program is pretty darn functional as a bookkeeping system, especially if one has no idea how double entry bookkeeping works. The desktop versions are particularly functional (once one adapts to the user interface). So, while I recommend the book and the program, buy them knowing that if you are looking for an explanation of how to set up bookkeeping for day one CASH and EQUITY on the balance sheet, QB is not very helpful. Intuit could correct this deficiency if they choose. But I am not holding my breath.Comments and thoughts to the contrary welcomed.

helped to figure how to use quickbooks

I bought this book to help my boss with some accounting. This book is supposed to make it easy. I found it very confusing. I have over 20 years in banking and accounting terms are opposite from how used in the bank. Very hard to follow for someone leading Quick Books that has never used the program

this book needs another version of dummier readers. I am using qb 2019 for mac desktop and the whole interface or screen does not look like what it shows on the book. maybe I bought wrong.i am still keeping it but i might return. considering

My husband and I use this to help us with bookkeeping for our small business. Thankfully we know a couple of people who are familiar with it already. It's not a self explanatory program at all. It's great, but can be challenging if you have no idea what you are doing.

I Purchased this just recently. Serves the purpose of walking me through step by step on how to insert data into QuickBooks Business. However there is an updated version that includes more concise information on how to insert payroll...etc. I would purchase updated version.

The remainder of goods included in the package with this book have not been refunded. There were three items in the box but I only received the refund for this book. Quickbooks instruction book and Quickbooks easy chart. Please let me know when I can be refunded for these two items.

A little hard to follow, but still an excellent resource

I should have looked inside before buying - as it doesn't tell you - that you shouldn't use the book if you are using QuickBooks Online! Not much help after you have bought it.From a skim read of it - its aimed at the american market (looks of talk about IRS etc) and to my mind, condescending in tone but I know, as a chartered accountant of many years standing, that it si not aimed at people like me.Why did I buy it then? I offered to help a friend - who had chosen Quickbooks - set it up in preparation for making tax digital and thought it would be helpful to the two of us.Have a read inside before you buy is my advice.

Bought this book to help Husband with his company finances. Still working through, but book easy to understand. Book arrived on time and in excellent condition.

total waste of money as doesn't cover quickbooks online in the uk.

Just the right amount of detail for a new user of Quickbooks. Goes thru the foundational bookkeeping & accounting principles as well as how to use the software.

Was more basic than I had anticipated. Not useful to me at all
