This is the first time I've ever used a honing steel and it is such a pleasure, it resharpens your knives very quickly and I can recommend anyone that's looking to purchase this. I've always used wet stones in the past but that takes off a bit too much metal when you're using professional knives it's always best to use a honing steel just to keep the edge perfect

Great quality. Heavy, maybe a little too nice for something like this. But I use it on my kitchen knife quite often and it keeps the edge very straight and sharp. Using this allows me to not need to use my whet stone nearly as much. The Handle looks like real wood, very pretty with a steel logo stamped in the side. Feels substantial in the hand, overall just very nice to use.

I bought this as a supermarket-bought knife sharpener broke. It was cheap rubbish and we do not seem to have access to traditional knife sharpeners as we used to. This fits the bill and was what I was looking for. It is sturdy, easy to hold and carries out traditional kitchen knife sharpening. I wasn't sure why it needed age verification as it is not a blade. I would recommend this if you need your kitchen utensils from becoming blunt and making vegetable slicing easier.

Bought this for keeping a fine edge on my array of kitchen knives, as long as you know how to use a steel you can’t go wrong with this for the price.

I love cooking and always try to keep my knives sharp. I do not know how many devices I have bought to sharpen knives. I have my trusty steel, which is (was) good and other gadgets, some of which actually chewed up my blades. I am not so dedicated I need a sharpening stone but I do need a good sharpener. So I tried this different steel. You can actually hear the difference when the blade goes down the steel and, after coming away from a knife sharpening (I have many for different jobs) they all are able to easily cut soft tomatoes. I'm delighted and highly recommend this. Also, it's fairly short so is easy to use and the handle is very comfortable to hold and has a hand protector. I think this is going to be one of my favourites, eg, Stellar pans, Bamix, 1950's Pyre glass rolling pin, etc. It's a keeper.
