Renewed worked out absolutely awesome for me (video).
The media could not be loaded. Hopefully the attached video works for the unboxing of the renewed Mavic Air, but if not, searching on you tube is easy enough for renewed mavic air drone is easy enough. Since that video was made, I think the only thing I discovered missing from the packaging was the spare set of joysticks (only the ones housed in the controller were present), which isn't a deal-breaker. The packaging box looked like retail save for the refurbished/renewed sticker. Item is amazing! As for the sub-ratings... "For beginners": I gave 5 stars, it's my first drone, and had no issues getting off the ground (however I was watching others' youtube vids for a week or three leading up to my purchase, but still, hands on was easy first day). Remote Control: Once again, I gave 5 stars as I have had zero complaints or issues. I am using a 5th gen Ipad Mini, which fits solidly. Everything is quite responsive. Battery Life: Probably not fair to give 4/5, and it could easily be 5, but I have had nothing to compare the battery life to. All the same, I did buy two extra batteries and the 4 battery hub separately, and have not had any issues having to come in too early after getting the video I intended to shoot. I have tended to "reel her in" with 35-40 percent life left on the battery just to be safe, and feel like I have been getting 15 minutes or so on my flights, so I'll leave that math to you!

Do not be afraid of "renewed".
After talking with some Mavic Air owners decided to take the plunge especially since the price seemed decent enough relative to a new one. Drone arrived in shrink wrapped box. All parts etc were there. Also a note saying that the landing pads were on backorder - not worried too much about that really.I have successfully flown this several times since receiving it about 2 days ago.Currently have it set to beginner mode. Drone is very responsive, there are a ton of settings available. Very excited to start my drone adventures! When starting out a couple of things that confused me at first - here are some notes if it helps anyone:The controller:- The charging port on the side is the same as the cell phone connecting port. It's a weird square looking port BUT takes a normal micro usb connection - wider side down/don't force!- The box came with several phone connector cables, I had to swap out the default and use the C connector for my S8+- There are metal joysticks stored under the "arms" of the controller, remove and screw them into to the pads on top.- Quick press then Long Press power button to turn on/off.The Drone/battery charger:- When unfolding front rotor arms swing out horizontally, rear ones tilt up at an angle.- Remove battery from drone by the sliders on the long sides of the battery.- The power indicator button on the battery also is the on/off button for the drone. Quick Press then Long Press to turn on/off.- Battery charger can also charge the controller. Use the included cable and adapter.- Charge up battery and controller before use.- Initially used the included bumpers but decided against as they seemed too cumbersome.- Install all the apps and update firmware before doing anything else. Use the PC app if you have trouble.Misc Stuff:- Install DJI Go App 4 on your phone, follow instructions.- Download the DJI Assistant app for your PC (not sure if for macs). You can use this to update firmware and calibrate the drone.- Your first flight might be a really short one thanks to a low battery caused by all the time playing with the app and updating the firmware while the drone is "on". The whole process drained the battery more than I expected. Subsequent flights were much better time-of-flight wise- I am going to keep the drone in beginner mode until I am really comfortable.- It's noisy but not unbearably so.- For those wanting something simpler/cheaper another cool starter drone is the "Tello". I bought one for my 11 year old daughter a while ago and she loves it. Camera is fixed and relatively low rez but it does have some of the DJI intelligence (like hovering) built in and can do tricks!

FAULTY DRONE - 3 Weeks later and I still do not have a working drone. Terrible Customer Service
VERY DISAPPOINTED, THINK TWICE BEFORE PURCHASING. Faulty Drone. Product malfunctioned on second flight causing it to crash from 400 ft.The second time I ever flew this drone, I was hovering it at eye level and it suddenly took off straight up all on its own. No controller input could stop the ascent and it continued up and up until its max height of 400 ft. I could move forward, back, and side to side but no command would make it descend. Hitting the return to home and auto land buttons would make the warning pop up on my app that it was landing, but it would just remain at 400 ft. Restarted controller, tried disconnecting phone, nothing worked.I had to stand there for 15 minutes waiting until inevitably the battery died and it plummeted from 400 ft. I spent this time trying to position it perfectly overhead in the hope it wouldn't hit anyone in the park when it fell. When it got to critical battery level again the warning popped up that it was auto landing and returning to home, except still it was pinned at 400 feet and did not come down.Had to file a request with DJI and send the drone in after only my second flight. Very disappointed in the quality of this renewed product.I have provided multitudes of evidence of the malfunction and it has now been 3 weeks since opening my case, and it has made zero progress. They say they have been "analyzing the data" for 3 weeks now. I am out nearly $1000 and have no drone to show for it.DO NOT BUY

Looks and works like new. Why include an SD card not fast enough for 4k??
Mine came in original box with all the original stickers on it. I have two issues... 1. The landing pad is on back order; still waiting for it. 2. The SD card in the package is not fast enough to record in 4k, it is also complains about recording in 2k but still worked okay in my first 14 test flights.I was torn between this and the Mavic Zoom. I am happy with my decision (especially at this price). It is so amazing everything that this drone will do, and how well it does it. I took it up at my house and the wind was blowing about 5mph and it was rock stable. It was awesome to be high above the trees and see the wind blowing them and the image amazingly stable. And in person it looks smaller than it did on the YouTube videos...I got two more batteries and a good case that holds them all... I get about 15min of flight time. Which seems like a long time to me. I'm coming from a knockoff and this thing is head and shoulders better... If I ever get another one, it will be DJI.
