Great Jazz At A Great Venue
Was there that night with my cousin. Didn't know it was being recorded. Many years later, my cousin surprised me with a vinyl copy (which is somewhere around the house). Saw the CD on Amazon and had to buy it. Worth having in your library.

Extraordinary Coryell
This is a superb disc of early raw Coryell. I would liken this to John Mclaughlin's "Devotion" record, which is a masterpiece in itself. The mastering of this live performance is above reproach, the only way that you would know that it is a live performance; is obviously in the album title and the applause during the set.I would recommend this Larry Coryell live performance to anyone who is familiar with this time period of the Fusion genesis.

seminal Coryell
Wilkerson is from my home town. This is Coryell's best album (and I own 20). Miss this your one at your own peril.

This is an amazing display of jazz/rock or fusion in its early days
This is an amazing display of jazz/rock or fusion in its early days! Coryell is incredible and manages to sound a bit Jimi and a bit Clapton (during his Cream days) all the while making it his own sound! You won't be disappointed if you like the "power trio" format! Larry was on the way up at this point and this recording proves that his greatest days were ahead!

Jazz/rock fusion
Here is Larry at his most rockin', playing with a trio and playing LOUD. Am I the only one who finds "The Opening" reminiscent of "Who Knows" from the "Band of Gypsys" album? Like many of Larry's efforts during this era, the playing can sometimes be a little sloppy, the singing ain't the greatest, but overall, there's a great feel to the whole affair. This is not pleasant, unobtrusive background music. This is music that grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go. For all it's flaws, this is still a highly enjoyable album.
