Good for strong chewers
I purchased this toy as a Christmas present for my sister's 2 dogs. While they have not yet received it, I have a blue version that I purchased elsewhere for my dog and she absolutely loves it. I am able to put small treats inside which will keep her entertained for a little while - she's pretty much already worked out how to effectively remove all the treats in the shortest amount of time. There is also a squeaker inside the head of the turtle which turns the food dispenser into a fun toy, and it bounces...very unpredictably I might add due to the head and legs. The turtle is make from a strong rubber material that keeps it from being easily destroyed - which is the best feature as far as I'm concerned because my dog is a strong chewer. It's a miracle if a toy lasts longer than a day in my house, and so far this one has lasted 7 months! The tail and a toe were chewed off after 2 months, but that's the only damage I've noticed and I was able to throw away the rubber pieces as they were removed. All in all, I'd say this is a terrific investment for any dog, but especially for strong chewers. I'll update once my sister's dogs have a chance to play with the green version.

He loves his blue hippo
My dogs really like the hippos. Great for putting in a few treats and watching them try go get the treats out. They are very sturdy, holds up to our Rottie mix, and we've had it for two years now. Just recently bought another because our other dog, she needs her own. :)

My dog’s favorite toy!
I originally found this hippo at a mom n pop pet supply store while on vacation on the opposite side of the country. I purchased the small version from the shop and my power chewing puppy loved him! She played with it every day for a couple months until she “performed surgery” on the back legs. Luckily, she wasn’t interested in eating the legs, and I sadly had to trash her favorite hippo. A few months went by and I got to remembering her hippo friend. I recalled the brand name and did a google search. There he was, our boy, Blue Hippo!I ordered the medium sized hippo friend this time. We’ve had medium Hippo friend for a year now, and this lil trooper is still truckin’. He’s endured her daily “love” exceptionally well. Chewing, tug-of-war, “corgi tornado finishing moves”. He’s still going strong, and still has all his legs! My pup seeks and destroys squeakers in toys, but Hippo friend has withstood her daily barrage. Only in the last week did I notice a small puncture in one of his nostrils. ‘Tis but a flesh wound!I haven’t put treats in his tum at all since we ordered him, and I think that has kept my girl from trying to open him up from the legs to get at the treats.I’ve also since found a local store that stocks UpCycle toys and accessories, so when he does eventually wear out I can make sure my girl always has her favorite hippo! I’ve since purchased a few of CycleDog’s balls for my other pup and they’re her favorite, too!I’m really impressed with the CycleDog brand, and you’ve got a customer for life!

The dog enjoys it - good enough for me!
It is not as durable as other products, but the chewiness of it is great according to my dog.Unfortunately, the hippo lost his head after some time but still, a great purchase!

Definitely destructible!
It took 12-lb. Teddi, a Pomeranian mix, less than 10 minutes to chew pieces off of this "indestructible" toy. She was having a good time though.

NOT for power chewers - NOT for hiding treats!
Meh. I have a power chewer (American Staffordshire) and if you do too, this toy is no exception to the destruction rule. We love Cycle Dog's ball, so thought we'd give this a shot. Within seconds this poor turtle had lost a leg. It's so cute, I wish I didn't get the green one because it makes me feel like she's annihilating a real turtle; I love turtles! Oh the guilt...Ultimately, the low star rating is not because of the lack of indestructibility, it's because the treat belly is a joke. It was SO difficult for me to put treats in there and even more difficult for Mochi to remove them. She's a smart cookie, she knew exactly what to do and how to manipulate the toy, but to no avail. The way it's constructed is flawed; the only method that opens those flaps? Fingers. That frustration made her chew the second leg off. I watched her intently and redirected her when she went after the head, because boy, that would have made me cry… LOL

My pup loves this treat toy!
This is a sturdy toy for a guy or gal that loves to chew with vigor! He loves the squeaker and he's entertained for a good and reasonable time, for his age, working for the treat we put inside the toy. Thanks!

This is one of the best toys we have for our dog
This is one of the best toys we have for our dog. He can chew on it forever and still looks brand new. We love that we can hide treats in it and that the head squeaks.
