Can be grown in sheltered areas outside, but more usually as a glasshouse crop. Requires a warm sunny position in a rich well-drained preferably light soil with plenty of moisture in the growing season. Dislikes heavy, wet or acid soils. Prefers a pH in the range 5.5 to 6.5. Pre-soak the seed for 12 hours in warm water and sow in mid spring in a greenhouse. Germination should take place within 10 days. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out after the last expected frosts. The seed can also be sown in situ in late spring though it may not ripen its seed in a cool summer.

Produced a good crop.
Planted only 12 seeds in pots 8 of which sprouted. I had only a small patch in my garden to plant these in. Made the frame from 8 upright canes and 2 across the top. Once seeds in place they grew really fast. Produced an absolute forest of growth. Loads of beans to pick and very nice they are too. Recent gales nearly destroyed them but managed to salvage them. Have had quite a few pounds of beans, a few left to see if they fatten up. Overall very pleased with them.
