Loved the series and the stories.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Elmer and Ann so my review is slanted. For that reason I attempted to balance the rating by removing a star.This is more of the same characters in his other Ranger stories. As with all of his characters, Kelton has made them believable. The reader is pulled into the settings, conflicts and emotions as he weaves his story of life in the early days of the struggle to settle the state.You will enjoy this book.

This was another in the fine Texas Ranger series by Elmer Kelton. The series is quite well written and follows a group of characters through their lives. Set in the early days of Texas, it is a good read for anyone who likes historical fiction about this great state.

Fast moving western epic that grabs one's interest and maintains it till the end. The author seems very knowledgeable and manifests it in his details.
