Undersized hoses and other design deficiencies
The pto attachment is shipped with 1/2" hoses that are undersized per the hose manufacturer for the system specification. The hose size is not documented anywhere in the product description.I purchased one of the Pto adapters from Skidsteersolutions and was dismayed to find they included 1/2" hose for 25gpm rated motor size 160. Apparently they have undersized hoses for all of their pto systems. They use 1/2" hose for their 80, 120, and 160 motors. The maximum recommended flow velocity for the hoses they supply from Alfagomma is 25ft/s. The flow velocity of 1/2" hose at 25gpm is 40.9ft/s. For the smallest motor at 17gpm the fluid velocity is 34.7ft/s. This results in heat buildup in the fluid rapidly at flow rates over 15gpm as there is an approximate 1.5hp heat loss drop at 25gpm across the system hoses and fittings as designed. For constant flow use the recommended velocity is 15ft/s per SAE design guidelines. The minimum hose diameter per the manufacturers design recommendations is 3/4".Their engineers response was that he sees no issues with the hose size provided and they have had no documented failures and that there is no significant performance impact observed from the use of the 1/2" hose size.Update: After 3months of owningI replaced all the hoses at my own cost with 3/4" 4000psi hoses. I have been using a small 4ft bush hog with it and a 5ft tiller. The motor runs them really well. The main issue and why I dropped the rating to 1 star is that the arm design is really bad. There is so much side to side flex with a on it that lynch pins constantly pop off. I replaced the lynch pins with bolts and sheared a grade 5 bolt. Finally the latch that holds the pins in the badly designed quick hitch welds popped leaving the hitch useless. Probably would work fine for anything under 500lbs but any implement that will put any longitudinal or axial stress is going to break something on the quick hitch. I will be fabbing a replacement for the arms from a donor tractors 3 point linkage.Tldr:The entire 3 point geometry is poorly designed. The arms are junk. Plan to spend an extra $500 for the correct size hoses. 100% would not buy again. The motor and its mount plus the skid steer plate are good rest is junk.
