Love it
This is a very thorough and concise book on spelling. As an adult that still struggles with dyslexic tendencies, i can’t say enough about the usefulness of this book. I recommend it for adults who have trouble spelling and want to improve, as well as for homeschooling parents, and especially for a classroom teachers! I’ve taught over 100 children how to spell using Ramalda Spalding’s writing road to reading. I have read and reread that book with gratefulness (id recommend that too, but it’s lengthy), but this one is such an excellent book on why/how to spell. The lists in it are fantastic. I’m very impressed. Glad I found it for homeschooling my own children now!

Spelling Book to use for many years to come
This book gives a good basis to have a starting point to teach spelling to your children. There are pre review tests to have your children take to help you to determine exactly what level you should begin teaching your child. The pre test is long for young children but, we broke it up into pieces so that the children wouldn't become overwhelmed or too tired with all of those words. At this point, we have only done the pre test. It seems that the procedure in the book for memorizing correct spelling is a little redundant since my children do a pretty good job of picking up on the correct spelling of new words quickly, so we will have to see if the repetitiveness is unnecessary. I can see how children who may have difficulty with spelling would benefit from the procedure that the author outlines. I think that overall this is a good book to help parents teach spelling for several years, which is helpful on the budget.

Good spelling curriculum
This has been a good spelling Curriculum for my 8 year old daughter. It is straightforward and doesn't waste time on unnecessary busywork. It could be improved by adding more information on spelling rules to accompany the weekly lists. Spelling Plus is great as an independent study for an older child that can already read and write well.If you are teaching a child to read and write, I recommend "spell to write and read" which is more labor intensive for the teacher/parent, but is a complete and excellent program. If your child only needs to improve their spelling, then spelling plus is adequate.

Great!
My son has always struggled with spelling, but this book makes it super simple. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is homeschooling, or just needs extra help with spelling

Good list of words. Hard to follow instructions.
This book has comprehensive lists of words. The teaching method is a bit hard to follow. The book only comes with 1 blank sheet so I end up making a lot of copies, or just using loose leaf. I'm not a teacher nor a homeschool mom, just bought this to help my daughter with her spelling. I just pick out random words from the lists and personalize my own quizzes.
