How often do you change it?

I am a Nurse, these are never changed.  They are put over an incision, and when they peel back on their own beyond the incision they are removed.  If the wound continues to drain underneath and these start to come off on their own different wound care is necessary.  It goes like this, surgical incision, staples for 14 days, these until they fall off on their own, healed.  You can't under all situations just pull a wound together with these, it may appear to be healing but could be absessing underneath.  A wound must heal from the bottom up and the sides in, not from the top to the bottom.

There are 6 strips in each pack X 10, correct?  The price seems way off for that amount, just want to make sure I know what I'm getting.  thx.

Will these work on an especially hairy area (such as a dog's ear)?

The area would need to be shaved to skin level and then applied (after flushing well with clean water to remove any debris and then disinfecting with an agent such as betadine). An additional adhesive liquid bandage (preferably one that is brushed on vs sprayed) may be beneficial in addition if the cut is not a "clean" cut or jagged or if the boundaries exceed the length or width of the strip especially since the hair will be growing back quickly and ideally you generally want to try to keep a moderate-semi-serious laceration sealed with steri strips for about 2 weeks as a goal. With the help of liquid skin adhesive this is totally realistic. I hope this helps you and your buddy.

How often it should be changed?

Steri Strips should NOT be changed. They are used to close lacerations until they heal. Just as you would not remove  sutures (stitches) from a wound the next day, you should not remove the steri strips as they will disrupt healing and can reopen the wound when removed.

Steri strips can be left in place 5-7 days. If you are concerned with contamination, cover them w/ a plain gauze pad and tape (which you can change as needed.) I am an RN and have used these on patients many times.
